Kamadoya Nizaemon is indeed a HIDDEN GEM in Jakarta. The Japanese restaurant is situated in Century Park Hotel (used to be Century Atlet Hotel) next to FX Sudirman.
The restaurant has been around for almost 3 years if we’re not mistaken. The store entrance looks exactly like traditional Japanese restaurant. Upon entering, you’ll be transported into amazing store atmosphere with bamboo & wooden accents. We heard that it was design by Japanese, that explains the strong traditional Japanese influence.
Since they use lotsa partition in the restaurant, it gives the customers more private dining feeling.
AnakJajan learned that this restaurant actually has SO MANY variety of dishes. Yakitori & Ishiyaki are their specialty but honestly there are many other dishes worth checking out both for heavy meal or snacks as drink companion.
Compared to other restaurants, considering the restaurant quality, we gotta say that the menu here is reasonably priced. You can spend as low or as high as your budget. If you’re feeling festive, you can order your fav dishes along with sake or other drinks. Please note that the menu has NO PORK & NO LARD. For lunch, they have special Lunch Set menu with 3 side dishes, rice, miso soup, and salad for IDR 128k, gotta say that it’s pretty good deal.
Gyu Bacon Salad IDR 98k
For this menu, they use smoked beef bacon from special vendor as the topping of salad along with onsen egg, onion & apple dressing. The beef bacon has super nice tender yet smoky salty flavor unlike regular ones out there.
Dashimaki Sweet IDR 58k
PERFECTION!! Fluffy, juicy omelette with perfect balance of sweet and savory flavor. Nuff said!!
Kani Cream Korokke IDR 63k
Love the creamy soft texture on the croquette, not to mention crab meat in it for nice aroma kick. Just look at the creamy smooth texture on picture below! Looking tempting isn’t it?
Spicy Tebasaki Ni IDR 63k
Love the fact that the chicken wings were still crispy even though they already glazed it with sauce. The sauce has sweet savory spicy characteristic which goes well with savory crispy chicken wings, it makes a great companion for cold beer.
Wagyu Garlic Ishiyaki Meshi IDR 188k
This menu caught our attention immediately. The garlic rice with wagyu was served on top of sizzling hot stone bowl and we have to mix it thoroughly. The whole bowl has all the good elements we expected, fluffy rice with savory seasoning, not to mention the appetizing garlic aroma and tender beef, yum max!
Wagyu Goma Sukiyaki IDR 168k
Ok, another top fav dish. Wagyu & eggplant in sesame sukiyaki soup. Yupsss you read it right, the sukiyaki soup has this nice nutty characteristic thanks to the use of sesame in it, perfect with soft tofu and tender beef. Double thumbs up for not being overly sweet, the sukiyaki soup has just the right level of sweet and savory taste, we enjoyed it very much.
Gindara Teriyaki IDR 198k
Silky smooth buttery sablefish teriyaki with vegetables, what’s there not to love?
Salmon Cheese Roll (8pc)
The restaurant happens to have many sushi options, we had Salmon Cheese Roll and the ingredients were fresh. We heard that you can order half roll or full roll like following picture.
Kokoro (chicken heart) & Sunazuri (chicken gizzard) IDR 17k/ pc
Negima (chicken thigh & leek), Kawa (chicken skin) IDR 18k/ pc
Tsukune (chicken meatball) IDR 19k/ pc
Knowing that yakitori is one of their specialty, of course we couldn’t miss the chance to have it. The yakitori was grilled on top of charcoal grill resulting nice golden color and smoky aroma, seasoned just right, juicy and tender altogether. Special shoutout to the extremely crispy yummy chicken skin! Don’t forget to add a bit of lime juice on top for fresh tangy kick.
Overall, with delicious food and amazing vibes like this in Jakarta, it makes a good escape. If you love Japanese food or missing all the good time you had in Japan or perhaps you don’t have the chance to visit Japan yet, give Kamadoya Nizaemon a visit and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it.
