Starting from 20 March 2014, Keraton at The Plaza launch Chef Lamberto’s Modern Mexican Kitchen, where you can enjoy authentic Mexican dishes at Bengawan Restaurant for lunch (12pm-3pm) and dinner (6pm-10.30pm) a la carte or lunch set menu.
During weekday Monday – Friday 12pm-3pm at Bengawan restaurant you can order three course Mexican Lunch Set Menu for IDR 150k nett per person including: 1 portion of Soup/Salad, 1 portion of Main Course (Grilled Quesadillas/ Tacos/ Iron Skiller Fajitas) and 1 portion of Dessert.
Crispy tortila chips (totopos) with sour cream, green and red salsa as a complimentary.
Sopa de Tortilla
A bowl of hearty warm and comfort soup, Sopa de Tortilla is a perfect dish to start our meal, consist of chicken strips, avocado, tortilla strips, sour cream pasilla chili.
Guacamole – avocado based dip was served with crispy corn totopos. The seasoning was really good and balance, very refreshing!
Lamb Birria Tacos
Each portion of tacos was served on corn tortillas with Mexican rice and refried pinto beans, limes, green and red salsa.
There are four choice of filling for the taco: skirt steak, chicken, lamb and portobello for vegetarian. We chose the Lamb Birria because heard that it was cooked for 12 hours.
The lamb was very tender and soft without any unpleasant smell from the lamb. Unlike any tacos we usually find that serve the taco with flour tortilla, the tacos here was served with soft corn tortilla, it was unique but there’s a bit of bitter taste from the soft corn torilla that we are unfamiliar with.
Hanger Steak Iron Skillet Fajitas
Each portion of Fajitas is served with bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, mexican rice, refried bean and flour tortillas. And for the meat filling there are 3 choice option: chicken/ hanger steak / portobello mushroom for vegetarian version.
Steak Grilled Quesadillas
My favorite!! Served with mexican cheese, roasted tomato, rajas, chipotle sauce, crema agria, pico de gallo. Crunchy outside and cheesy inside, addicting!
Pastel 3 Leches
The cakes was made by using 3 kind of milk but don’t worry the it was balance and doesn’t taste too milky.
Creamy vanilla and chocolate flan served with pistachio caramel crunch, a bit too sweet for my liking.
Cinnamon Sugar Churros
Churros was served with with three type of sauces: cajeta (goats milk) caramel, white chocolate sauce and chunky mango compote.
I really LOVEEEE the churros, the texture was really good! Crunchy outside but puffy inside and taste even better with the sauces, silky creamy caramel and sweet sour mango are my favorite.
Overall, the Mexican Lunch Set Menu is quite a good deal with an authentic flavors of Mexico, for IDR 150k nett only you can enjoy 3 dishes from appetizer, main course and dessert. Let’s Jajan!!
