In this post, AnakJajan are going to share with you a hidden gem in the central of Jakarta, a place called Iseya Robatayaki in Sampoerna Strategic Square building.
Iseya Robatayaki is a Japanese restaurant specializes in Robatayaki along with other Japanese dishes such as Shabu-Shabu, Sukiyaki, Sushi, Donburi, Teppanyaki, etc, here in Iseya Robatayaki you can also find All You Can Eat menu for Shabu-Shabu/ Sukiyaki and Omakase menu.
If I’m not mistaken, Iseya Robatayaki has been established for 4 years, AnakJajan never knew there’s such a pretty restaurant in Sampoerna Strategic Square building. We were honestly very surprised (in a good way) with the calm serene mood when we entered the restaurant, we just love the way they decorate the restaurant with charming and elegant touch.
AnakJajan started our meal with Omakase Course IDR 1.850k, FYI Omakase is Japanese tradition of letting the chef choose your order, so you will get a meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef. The main star of Omakase in Iseya Robatayaki was the Saga Gyu, the finest Kuroge Wagyu from Saga in the south of Japan.
The Omakase course started with a platter of various dishes arranged beautifully together, Caviar & Buttered Toast, Salmon, Grilled Mushroom, Spicy Chicken, and deep fried Crab Claw with spicy mayo, everything was yummy especially the juicy grilled mushroom with fish roe.
The next course was a beautiful plate of mix sashimi, Salmon, Tuna and Scallop, the seafood was fresh and sweet. After that we had Dobinmushi, the signature soup at Iseya Robatayaki, heartwarming seafood-based soup with chunks of prawn, fish and mushroom in it.
Then we had the Salmon Kama or salmon cheek grilled with crunchy skin and tender meat, it was seasoned nicely and perfectly paired with savory juicy mushrooms.
All of the dishes were prepared meticulously by chef Kazu including the next dish Fugu Karaage, a Japanese delicacy made from the famous poisonous Fugu fish which only licensed chefs just like chef Kazu are allowed to prepare. The fish has a smooth and tender texture and it was deep fried nicely until crunchy on the outside, for extra seasoning try dipping the fish into soy sauce + minced radish + chili flakes.
To clean the palate, the chef served a bowl of salad with light and refreshing dressing, then followed by the main star, nicely grilled tender Saga Gyu beef served with Ponzo, Garlic Soy and Yakiniku sauces, it was very pleasing both for the eyes and tummy, just look at the lovely drawing on the plate.
A bowl of simple fried rice and Ehire or stingray fish Tempura were the last course, the Ehire Tempura was simply fantastic, crunchy on the outside while sweet on the inside and paired uniquely with matcha salt, love it! The omakase meal ended nicely with a plate of mix fruit platter.
If you’re not interested in Omakase, as I said earlier, Iseya Robatayaki offers various a la carte and set menu too. Besides the Omakase, AnakJajan also had additional a la carte dishes.
Spicy Salmon Crispy Roll IDR 128k / Salmon Roll IDR 128k
Spicy Salmon Crispy Roll consists of deep fried salmon sushi roll topped generously with mayo and spicy mayo while Salmon Roll was my favorite, sushi roll with fresh salmon and zucchini topped with aburi salmon, salmon roe and spicy mayo.
Hotate Cream Cheese IDR 180k
This one was one of the recommended dish at Iseya Robatayaki, grilled huge scallop with mushroom in creamy cream cheese. The scallop was sweet and tender and it was very suitable with the smooth cream cheese.
Overall, AnakJajan had a great dining experience, we enjoyed both the food and the place, Iseya Robatayaki is definitely a gem that all Japanese food lovers must visit. Let’s Jajan!!
