AKANE TOKYO CUISINE – Crowne Plaza, Jakarta

Discussing about Japanese food, Jakarta has lots of great Japanese restaurants, I’m talking about those hidden gems where most of Japanese people in Jakarta visit and one of it is Akane restaurant located in Crowne Plaza Hotel.

On one random Sunday morning, even though we had just returned from #AnakJajanJAPAN trip a few months ago, me and Mr. Jajan miss our great time in Japan so much we decided to have Japanese food for lunch spontaneously and we chose Akane Tokyo Cuisine.

One important thing that you have to note if you’re planning to visit Japanese restaurant is Japanese restaurant tends to open only for lunch and dinner for example Akane opens daily from 11.30 to 14.30 and 18.00 to 22.30.

Akane serves wide variety of Japanese cuisine from Salad, Yakitori, Robatayaki, Oden, Sashimi, Sushi, etc.

Another important tips specially for Sahabat Jajan, most Japanese restaurants offer lunch set menu with more reasonable price during lunch time, so it’s good for saving money while having satisfying meal. Just like in Akane, during lunch time, you can enjoy Lunch Set menu for IDR 98k including 1 rice of choice and 3 side dishes or Rice + Noodle Combo Lunch Set for IDR 98k.

Rice + Noodle Combo Lunch Set IDR 98k
The set includes one bowl of rice, one bowl of ramen and salad. The options for rice and noodle menu are plentiful, Mr. Jajan optefd for Aka Tantanmen and Chirashi Sushi, even though it’s set menu, surprisingly both rice and noodle came in generous portion.

The Aka Tantanmen or Hot Spicy Sesame Soup Ramen was pretty enjoyable, springy elastic noodle, savory yet flavorful broth with shredded chicken breast in it. But the winner was definitely the Chirashi Sushi or bowl of sushi rice topped with assorted fresh raw fish, sushi rice was fluffy and seasoned nicely, fish was fresh and generous, Mr. Jajan enjoyed it a lot.

Handroll Tempura IDR 53k/ piece
Handroll or temaki is my favorite type of sushi because I enjoy the freshly made sushi with crispy nori seaweed. The tempura handroll here was satisfying with huge shrimp tempura inside plus zucchini, lettuce, mayo and tobikko, it was nice but not the best in town though.

While for me, I chose Yaki Curry Rice dish because I saw lots of customers ordered this dish, it’s Japanese baked curry rice served with pickles and potato salad, and it was a great decision!!

The rice was fluffy served with Japanese curry, egg and mozarella cheese, I also ordered Chicken Katsu or deep fried breaded chicken fillet, it was decent and came in generous portion. The curry was very flavorful with pleasant smell and balanced seasoning, I personally think Akane’s curry rice is one of the best in town. Must try!!

Ocha or green tea drink and coffee jelly dessert are complimentary from the restaurant.

Overall, our lunch at Akane was satisfying, the Yaki Curry or curry baked rice was memorable, definitely will be back for more. Let’s Jajan!!
