FESTIVAL KULINER SERPONG 2016 – Summarecon Mal Serpong (SMS)

Attention food lovers!! The annual Festival Kuliner Serpong (FKS) at Summarecon Mal Serpong (SMS) has started from 12 August to 12 September 2016.

Every year FKS features different culinary heritage from Indonesia such as “Beauty of Bali” from Bali on 2011, “Minang nan Rancak” from West Sumatra on 2012, “Jawa Sing Ngangeni” from Central Java on 2013, “Sulawesi Nyamanna’ Pe Sadap” from Sulawesi on 2014 and last year 2015 “Horas Beta Mangan Hita” from North Sumatera.

This year’s theme of FKS is “Wuenak E’ Puolll” from East Java where you can find wide variety of East Javanese cuisine complete with East Javanese art performance.

The event is located at the spacious SMS south parking area and as usually FKS puts so much effort in decorating the event with festive and colorful decoration, in the gateway you can see the Candi Penataran and then the replica of traditional houses from Bayuwangi, Madura, Majapahit, etc, also the iconic Reog Ponorogo decoration at the main stage. Even the janitors wear traditional outfit from East Java, so cute isn’t it??

Everyday on 17.00 and 20.00 visitors can enjoy traditional East Javanese music performance at the stage area, there will be lots of performances during the event such as music performances from East Javanese musicians & Voice of Indonesia, traditional Reog Ponorogo performance, story telling by WWF Indonesia also music performances by 3 popular music institutions.

FKS’s operational hours are 16.00 to 22.00 every Monday to Thursday, 14.00 to 23.00 on Friday and 11.00 to 23.00 on Saturday-Sunday and national holiday.

The transaction method is pretty similar previous FKS events using card, you can simply head to the one of 10 cashier booths available at FKS to top up the card with balance and then use it to purchase in the FKS 2016 area.

Ok, let’s move to the main topic, FOOD!! There are 96 tenants carefully curated by the team consist of 61 stands, 28 carts, 3 “angkringan”, 3 “wartegan” and 1 “bale”. Some of the tenants are invited directly from from the place of origin at East Java such as BHEK Oleh-oleh khas Jawa Timur, Depot Nasi Campur & Rawon Pojok Tambak Bayan, Pecel Pincuk Ibu Ida, Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul, Sego Resek, Srabi Notosuman Solo Ny. Handayani, Soto Ambengan “Cak-Har”, Nasi Krawu, CwieMie Malang Gedingan, Sate Klopo Juanda, Sate Ayam Ponorogo Nyamleng, Bebek Ireng Suroboyo “Cak Baz”, Jajanan Baheula “Java Oenik”, etc.

Nasi Pecel IDR 15k + Bakwan IDR 4k – Pecel Pincuk Ibu Ida
Here are some of our tasty findings. First is Nasi Pecel IDR 15k + Bakwan IDR 4k, our cravings for East Javanese “Nasi Pecel” was satisfied completely, the vegetables were blanched and then smothered with flavorful nutty sauce, yummy!

Special Cwiemie IDR 34k – Cwiemie Malang Gedongan
After that we had the Special Cwiemie IDR 34k complete with beefballs and dumplings from Cwiemie Malang, this tenant was packed with customers so we decided to try it. The noodle was thin topped with minced chicken over crispy wonton skin, it was savory yet addictive.

Bebek Muda IDR 35k + Rice IDR 5k – Bebek Ireng Suroboyo “Cak Baz”
This one was probably the MOST DELICIOUS tenant we had during our visit. The deep fried duck was awesomely delicious, well marinated, tender and so flavorful served with spicy chili sauce, ooh I’m seriously drooling while writing about it. Must try!!

Sate Ayam + Kulit IDR 33k + Lontong IDR 5k – Sate Ayam Ponorogo Nyamleng

Original Srabi IDR 6k // Chocolate Srabi IDR 7k – Srabi Notosuman Solo Ny. Handayani
AnakJajan just cannot miss the chance to have our favorite Serabi or traditional coconut milk pancake from Solo and this one from Srabi Notosuman Solo Ny. Handayani is simply the best!!

Es Campur IDR 21k – Es Sinar Garut H. Ucu
Other than East Javanese cuisine, you can also find lots of popular and favorite Indonesian food, FKS is totally spoiling the visitors with lots of choices.

Other fun thing to do is the classic night market games called “Pojok Dolanan” such as throwing balls into the cans, throwing bracelet to the bottle, throwing balls into large and small containers, all of these old school games definitely bring back the memories.

Overall, AnakJajan must give FKS double thumbs up!! FKS 2016 12 August – 12 September 2016 is really fun and filled with lots of interesting East Javanese culinary heritage. It is definitely a must visit for foodie, so don’t miss it!! Let’s Jajan!!
