Happiness is when we found a gem with good food. Serving Nasi Gudeg and Ayam Goreng Kalasan for more than 30 years, RM Adem Ayam is one of our tasty finding recently.

The restaurant has two outlets in Jakarta, here you can expect to find traditional Javanese dishes like Gudeg, Opor, Rawon, TImlo, Soto, etc. Please note that they only accept cash or Gopay payment, so make sure you bring enough cash.

Nasi Gudeg Telor + Ayam Goreng/Bakar IDR 52k
Since Kalasan fried chicken is their signature, AnakJajan opted for Nasi Gudeg with fried chicken. Basically Gudeg is young jack fruit stew originated from Java, it’s usually served with Krecek and Egg.

The Nasi Gudeg here was delicious, AnakJajan love the fact that their Gudeg has balanced flavor between sweet and savory, the Krecek was cook to perfection, tender and flavorful, egg was well marinated but the winner has gotta be their fried chicken, easily one of the best fried chicken in town.

RM Adem Ayem’s Ayam Goreng Kalasan is mind blowing GOOD!! Meat was tender and fall of the bone easily, savory with addictive crunchy savory kremesan. Soooo freaking delicious!! The savory taste from chicken goes really well with sweet gudeg.

Opor Ayam is basically a kind of chicken stew dish cooked in coconut milk. RM Adem Ayem’s version of Opor Ayam was enjoyable but not memorable, as the coconut milk was too dominant. For Opor Ayam, AnakJajan still prefer Gudeg Sagan’s version but for Nasi Gudeg in general, RM Adem Ayem is definitely the winner for us, not to mention the price is still more reasonable compared to Gudeg Sagan Senopati.

Sayur Asem IDR 12k
Their sayur asem was just okay, not bad but definitely not the best for us.

Well, whenever we crave for good Nasi Gudeg, RM Adem Ayem will definitely in our top list. If you’re planning to go there, make sure you order their Kalasan Fried Chicken because it’s amazingly good!
