KASHIWA – BLOK M, Jakarta (All Item IDR 29,800++)

Sharing with you all an affordable gem in Blok M Little Tokyo area, a Japanese style bar/ restaurant called Kashiwa where ALL food is IDR 29,800++/ portion!!

The restaurant is situated on 2nd floor, upon entering you have to climb narrow wooden stairs which totally give us Japanese vibes.

Since it’s a Japanese style bar, they serve wide range of alcoholic drinks. The specialty dish of Kashiwa is Yakitori, but they have wide range of dishes from sashimi, tempura, rice, noodle, sushi, oden, etc, all IDR 29,800++/ portion.

Fresh, tasty, enjoyable, nuff said!

Amakara Renkon IDR 29,800++
SOOOO GEWD!! Lotus roots stir-fried with shiny lipsmacking sweet and savory sauce. The seasoning was well-balanced just the way we like, you’ll get the nice crunchy texture of it.

Negima Yakitori IDR 29,800++/ 2pcs, Tsukune Yakitori IDR 29,800++/ 2pcs
The bbq skewer is available in various options from meat to vegetables, you can order it with shio (salt) or tare (sweet) seasoning. Out of all dishes, their Yakitori stands out the most! No wonder they call it their specialty. Our yakitori was beautifully seasoned with inviting charred aroma.

Aburi Gyuyatsu IDR 29,800++

Nagoya Tebasaki IDR 29,800+
Tasty but salty, the deep fried golden chicken wings were seasoned with salty peppery seasoning typical Nagoya Tebasaki, it was a tad too salty but it makes a great companion for beer.

Kashiwa Roll IDR 29,800++
This was just okay, we got more rice than the filling, but well can’t expect much from it.

Saikoro Steak IDR 29,800++
We enjoyed the caramelized onion but it would be nice if the beef can be more tender.

Mentaimayo Tamagoyaki IDR 29,800++

Gyutan Shioyaki IDR 29,800++
The beef tongue was decent and enjoyable, thinly sliced with savory seasoning, not chewy but not tender.

Chicken Nanban IDR 29,800++
This one was such a huge let down for us personally. The fried chicken was pale, not golden, then the seasoning was just alright.

Sanma Shioyaki IDR 29,800++
A whole fish for IDR 29,800++ is such a great deal. The fish was fresh, tasty and nicely grilled with great charred aroma, don’t forget to squeeze a bit of lemon juice for extra tangy kick.

Overall, Kashiwa is a unique place to eat, the food was affordable, some were good, some were okay. If you happen to miss Japan so much, make a quick escape to this place and enjoy the Japanese vibes.
