Bo & Bun Asian Eatery from Seminyak, Bali is officially open in Jakarta!!!
It’s almost half a year since AnakJajan visited Vietnam and we miss the local food so badly! Gladly we can get our cravings fixed at Bo & Bun Jakarta located in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area.

Bo & Bun is actually an Asian eatery with strong Vietnamese cooking influence therefore you can find many Vietnamese dishes along with various appetizing dishes from all over Asia such as Banh Mi, Pho, Vietnamese Spring Roll, Thai Fish Cakes, Tom Yum Goong Noodle, Pad Thai, Sate Ayam, etc with price ranging from IDR 40k to IDR 135k for the food.

The eatery has an interesting decor with French bistro dining decor complete with chandelier, classic wallpaper and dimmed light resulting a relaxing yet romantic vibes. Let’s take a closer look at some of the signature dishes.

Summer Days IDR 40k
Perfect summer drink made with crushed ice, lemon, mint and syrup. It’s sweet, sour and minty.

Lychee Blossoms IDR 40k
One of the best selling thirst quencher drinks consisting lychee syrup, soda water, lime, fresh lychee and mint. It tastes indeed very refreshing, light and delightful with hint of lychee and mint aroma, subtle sour taste and light fizzy kick from the soda.

Vietnamese Coffee (Hot) IDR 35k
Visiting Vietnamese restaurant wouldn’t be complete without having Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk. It’s available both in hot and iced version.

Bao Gao Pork Belly IDR 65k (2pcs)
For appetizer, AnakJajan had Bao Gao Pork Belly or steamed buns filled with crushed peanuts, pickled cucumbers, hoisin sauce, fresh coriander and chili. This dish was exceptionally AWESOME!! Sooo good, I’m drooling while writing about it.

It was savory, tangy, crunchy, fluffy soft altogether in every bite, it gave us flavor explosion in the mouth. Each ingredient complements each other nicely in a harmonious way, no wonder this dish is their best selling appetizer.

“The 12 Hour” Pho IDR 90k
Pho is Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, rice noodle, herbs and meat. AnakJajan must say that the taste of pho in Bo & Bun is totally legit!! Cooked for 12 hours, this dish is available in limited supply everyday with beef broth, sliced tenderloin, slice beef shanks, beef meatballs, rice noodles, coriander stems, sliced onion with side of fresh bean sprouts, chili, Thai basil & lime.

The broth was extremely flavorful, full of umami, a hearty comforting broth with pleasing hint of herbs aroma. It didn’t lack of anything, we didn’t need to add anything to the broth anymore since it was delicious. The meat was also tender.

Banh Mi Thit IDR 85k
For Banh Mi or Vietnamese sandwich, AnakJajan had the 18 hours Pork Belly version with Vietnamese baguette, pickled carrots, jicama, cucumber, pate, mayo, whole coriander, sliced chilli and fried wonton skin as side dish. The 18 hours pork was extremely tender, soooo tender it will just melt in the mouth in instant.

Pork Chop with Jasmine Rice IDR 95k
The rice dish consists of grilled lemongrass marinated pork chop, pickled carrots, jicama, fried egg, cucumber and Nouo Cham dipping sauce. It was very appetizing, the pork chop was well marinated with all the flavors fully absorbed into it with pleasant chargrilled aroma. Don’t forget to dip the pork chop into sweet savory tangy sauce for extra flavor kick.

Toasted Coconut & Pandan Creme Brulee IDR 55k
Smooth French custard, infused with coconut and pandan leaves, double crusted brulee

Overall, Bo & Bun did a successful job in satisfying our cravings for Vietnamese food. The taste was legit, great flavor, nice menu selection, we can see ourselves coming back for more regularly. Highly recommended if you’re looking for great Asian especially Vietnamese food in Jakarta. Let’s Jajan!
