Introducing AB Steak By Chef Akira Back, a new revolutionary concept of Korean American Steak House located in MD Place, Setiabudi, Jakarta.
Akira Back Jakarta is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in town, and now they come with new concept, AB Steak By Chef Akira Back, a modern steakhouse by combining Korean and American accents with House Aged Premium Meat as their main star where customer can choose the cut and size of meat and after that the steak will be grilled on the table with charcoal grill, taking about a new and fun experience!!
AB Steak By Akira Back will open for public this weekend on 23rd April 2017 (dinner time only), we highly recommend you to make a reservation first since the seating capacity is limited. Big thanks to Ci Astrid, AnakJajan got the chance to preview the menu before the opening so we can share the review to all of you.
Located on MD Place building mezzanine level, the steakhouse has a cool yet mysterious vibes with dimmed light, modern looking ornaments and flaming fire, upon entering you will pass through the huge display of their house aged premium meat.
Shitake Croquette IDR 225k
Me and Mr. Jajan seriously cannot get over this appetizer coz it’s soooo good!!! An ultimate combination between croquette with sea urchin, sweet shrimp kejang, smoked potato foam, and caviar. All of the ingredients complementing each other harmoniously, crunchy from the croquette, soft buttery from sea urchin, savory creamy from smoked potato foam, sweet taste from the shrimp, price might be a bit on the high side but AnakJajan got to say that it’s worth every penny.
Amberjack “Carpaccio” IDR 195k
Amberjack fish topped with with roasted jalapeno salsa, orange, and blood orange soy, the serving presentation is very unique coz they put it on a huge block of salt so make sure to enjoy it as soon as it’s served so it won’t get too salty.
Scallop Crudo IDR 135k
Fresh scallop dish with with chive & kimchee gel, jicama, truffled yuja soy. It was sweet and enjoyable with subtle tangy or citrus note.
Steamed Bun IDR 150k
A killer combination that simply cannot go wrong, fluffy steamed bun filled with BBQ duck, seared foie gras, and pickled vegetable slaw.
Tuna Yukke 95k
Fresh tuna tartar with cucumber, sesame sauce, scallion muchim, seaweed bugak, best enjoyed in one bite. Love the crunchy and soft texture combination between the seaweed and tuna, it was nicely seasoned as well.
Chicken Wings IDR 95k
If you follow our INSTAGRAM: @ANAKJAJAN you must already know that we just got back from Seoul and this dish successfully brought back the memories of #AnakJajanKOREA trip (in a good way). The charcoal oven grilled chicken wings were glazed with spicy dakdori seasoning with king oyster mushroom and zucchini. The chicken was juicy tender with delightful char-grilled aroma but the best part would be the dakdori sauce with balanced savory, sweet and spicy flavors.
Steak Tartare IDR 185k
Personally not a big fan of bone narrow but this one was good. It consists of roasted bone narrow, wagyu tartare, and pine nuts paired with lotus chips and crunchy bread.
AB’s Caesar IDR 110k
If all salad tastes as good as this, I think I’m gonna eat salad for EVERY SINGLE DAY!! The crunchy texture and grilled aroma from grilled romaine, the sweet taste from caramel macadamia, the tangy taste from herbed yogurt caesar dressing, everything was amazing and packed of flavors! Undoubtedly the BEST caesar salad AnakJajan have ever tasted.

In accordance to their tagline, WAGYU SEE IS WAGYU GET!! Here in AB Steak you can find House aged Premium Meat. All of the steak is best enjoyed medium rare for maximum sensation but if you don’t fancy medium rare, don’t worry coz you can cook the steak according to your preference.
Between Flat Iron/Oyster Blade, Knuckle IDR 185k/ 100grams and Rump A4, it’s hard to choose one favorite since each cut has its own unique texture and sensation but all of them were impressively delicious, incredibly tender and juicy as well.
As a companion to the steak, AB Steak provides 5 types of salt; garlic, kimchi, truffle, yuzu and Himalayan salt along with 5 types of sauces; soy wasabi, ssamjang, sesame oil, chimichurri and bulgogi. All of the condiment go really well with the steak but our most favorite ones would be garlic salt, truffle salt, soy wasabi and ssamjang.
Porter House IDR 1.110k/ 600 grams
Porter House is one of the premium house aged meat, the 200days grain fed T-bone cut that has gone through 45days of aging to get more tender texture and it was the highlight of our visit. To grill the meat, they added apple wood chips to infuse a distinctive smoky aroma into the meat resulting an exceptional texture of meat, bouncy tender with melt-in-the-mouth texture, SOOOOOO GOOD we had beef comma!!
Bone in Ribeye IDR 656.7k/ 330grams
The Bone in Ribeye is also another premium house aged meat. It has an even more tender texture compared to Porter House but AnakJajan personally enjoy Porter House a little bit more 😀
Coconut Mochi Cake IDR 65k
Butter mochi cake, salted caramel popcorn & macadamia, and coconut sorbet. Major love for the unique mochi cake texture.
Brandy & Maple with Nashi & Crepe Flambe IDR 150k
For sweet ending, try their crepe flambe, soft and sweet delicate crepe with burnt caramel and touch of liquor “brandy”. Gotta give it an extra point for live cooking on the table.
