Chinese cuisine with quality, introducing House of Yuen at Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, a Chinese high dining restaurant by Sun Tung Lok – 1 Michelin star restaurant in Hong Kong that is known for their reputation for top quality Chinese cuisine.
Bringing the renowned taste of Sun Tung Lok, House of Yuen offers a wide array of Cantonese delicacies. It is located on the 3rd floor of Fairmont Hotel Jakarta.
A few weeks ago, AnakJajan had a chance to visit House of Yuen. AnakJajan’s first impression of the restaurant was the posh and classy interior, we gotta say that they put lots of attention for the decor with interesting use of gold ornaments and velvet chair, it’s super posh but remains cozy.
Let’s take a look some dishes that AnakJajan tried, please note that all menu below is not a normal portion, it’s a sampler portion specially tailored for food tasting session.
Crispy Fish Skin Salted Egg Yolk
The fish skin is deep fried until crunchy and then coated with salted egg yolk sauce. It was absolutely FANTASTIC, super crispy and then the sauce was well-balanced, it has all the flavors that we expected to be there. MUST TRY!
Diced Ox Tongue in XO Chili Sauce
Another impressive dish, extremely tender ox tongue cooked in lip-smacking spicy XO chili sauce.
Old Fashioned Smoked Garoupa Fish Fillets
Classic deep fried fish with a pleasant hint of smoked aroma.
Deep Fried Prawns with Wasabi Aioli
Deep fried prawn with a rather unique choice of seasoning that is quite trending nowadays with wasabi. It turned out the be a genius combination, the wasabi was used just in the right level so it’s not overpowering yet you get the nice spicy kick in your nose. Enjoyable indeed!
Spicy Imperial Hot and Sour Soup with Lobster
Classic Chinese dish that simply cannot go wrong. The soup has a nice thick consistency with the use of various mushroom and lobster. It’s warm, spicy, sour and me likey
Braised Prime Rib with House Gravy
For main course, the Braised Prime Rib was certainly praiseworthy. The meat was sooo tender with melt-in-the-mouth texture and all the seasoning has absorbed nicely into the meat thanks to the 8 hours of slow cook process. AnakJajan didn’t even need to use knife to cut it since it falls of the bone easily.
Oven Black Cod Fish with Miso Sauce
The black cod fish is baked in miso sauce, AnakJajan personally think that it needs less sauce since the miso sauce is very creamy and can be too overpowering, perhaps it could taste better in normal portion.
Oven Baked King Prawns Cheese and Spicy XO Sauce
The king prawn is baked with cheese and sprinkled with fried garlic and some crispy bits. It was pleasant.
Minced Wagyu Fried Rice
Fried rice with minced wagyu, a fancy one indeed. Love the wok aroma, it’s a potential dish, only personally think that the premium Wagyu can shine a lil bit more if it’s diced cut instead of minced.
Chilled Mango Puding
Just a perfect sweet ending, mango pudding with nice smooth and delicate texture paired with fresh milk.
Overall, House of Yuen is certainly one of prettiest Chinese restaurants in town. AnakJajan must say that their appetizer was unbelievably spectacular, it was amazing and memorable, looking forward to have another visit and try some other dishes in normal portion.
