Union goes North! One of the most successful Brasserie & Bakeries has finally joined North Jakarta food scene with the opening of Union in PIK Avenue Mall.

Upon opening, the new outlet in PIK Avenue is endlessly packed with customers. At the front area, you can see colorful products from the bakery, to our surprise, the seating area inside is very spacious. The interior has all the signature design typical Union with a bit of oriental/ “peranakan” ornaments.

If you wonder what makes Union PIK special, well they have several new special menu that are available exclusively only in PIK Avenue outlet, here are some of it:

Crispy Pork Belly with Honey Mustard & Mash IDR 160k
Specially in Union PIK Avenue, they have several pork-based dishes and here’s our favorite,
Crispy Pork Belly with Honey Mustard & Mash. The crackling from pork belly is insanely crispy and easy to chew, while meat itself is not fatty but remains tender. The use of honey mustard and fresh apple plays a huge role giving the dish a great balance.

Nasi Babi Garing IDR 105k
One of the best selling items there, crispy pork belly, sambal matah, pineapple kimchi, and rice. Each item is nicely executed and great on its own, the chunks of pork belly is very crispy, pineapple kimchi is refreshing, but it feels something is missing, perhaps it needs a sauce to bond everything together into a great harmonious combo.

OOOOHHH MY GOD! THIS IS HEAVENLY! Sooo good we just cannot stop talking about it. The rice noodle or kwayteow itself is cooked nicely with amazing wok-fry aroma complemented by crispy bacon bits and the aroma of black truffle just elevates the dish into the another level. Chef Adhika Maxi is indeed genius!

Chili Crab Spaghetti IDR 115k
Al-dente spaghetti cooked in bold rich chili crab sauce, what’s there not to love? It’s pleasant only not as memorable as others.

Sticky Pork Chop with Malang Apple, Sauerkraut, Wedges IDR 240k
Super huge, super satisfying especially for meat lovers. AnakJajan love the fact that the pork chop is nicely seasoned and cooked with juicy tender texture even though the meat is super thick. The tangy sauerkraut and apple puree are just perfect condiments to make the meaty dish not too heavy.

Ube Velvet Cake IDR 66k
This is one of the signature items available exclusively at Union PIK, but now they’re going to serve it at Union Pondok Indah Mall as well. The new purple goodness is another successful and happening creation by Karen Carlotta, it’s basically layer cakes made from ube or purple yam with intricate layers with different textures. AnakJajan personally love the subtle ube aroma in it, it’s also less sweet compared to Red Velvet Cake making it enjoyable till the last spoonful.

Red Velvet Cake IDR 60k
As yummy as other new creations, Red Velvet Cake remains our most favorite one. It’s still the best for us personally. The combination of moist cake with delicate cream, crunchy crumbs, and strong hint of rhum if I’m not mistaken is just irresistibly good!

Cotton Candy Es Merah Delima IDR 55k
Major yum! This new dessert menu got us instantly hooked! You’ll get a nice crunchy fresh texture from jicama, sweet taste from syrup and creamy salty taste from “bubur sumsum” or thick coconut gruel.

Overall, judging from the endless crowd, the opening of Union in PIK Avenue is just what north Jakartans need. The yummy new menu creations that are available exclusively only in PIK Avenue outlet give us a strong reason to visit.
