[JAPAN] Matcha Green Tea Diary

matcha

When visiting Japan, get yourself matcha greentea as much as you can. I don’t know why but I always went crazy every time I saw matcha related food or snacks. I always love the distinctive flavor from Japanese green tea, I don’t know if it’s just me of many of you also love matcha as much as I do. Luckily Mr. Jajan supports my obsession with Matcha because he gets to do his favorite activity too, that is eat! Hahahaha. This time I’m gonna share with you some matcha green tea stuff we had during our trip to Tokyo.

Matcha Choux JPY 310 – ChayuTei – Yanaka Ginza
This one is by far AnakJajan most favorite and most memorable matcha greentea related food. It is a simple looking cream puff filled with matcha pastry cream from an old tea house ChayuTei at Yanaka Ginza area, one of the most favorite place AnakJajan visited, full story on Yanaka post.

The choux dough was very special, it has a unique crunchiness and aroma from the use of brown rice and roasted tea filled with generous amount of velvety smooth matcha greentea the pastry cream that taste heavenly!! Very smooth, creamy, rich and intense matcha flavor. So so soo good, even Mr. Jajan a non dessert person loves it so much he decided to buy another one in the afternoon but unfortunately it was soldout so fast, super saddd. Me and Mr. Jajan promised ourselves that we have and must come back for the cream puff next time if we re-visit Japan, also gonna try their matcha green tea drink too.

Tricolor Green Tea Soft Ice Cream JPY 670 – Ujicha Gion Tsujiri – Tokyo Solamachi Floor 6F
Top recommended if you are big fan of Matcha and Ice Cream you should totally try this one. So basically there are three types of greentea ice cream they offer, Houjicha, Matcha and Sencha.

And being greedy AnakJajan tried the Tricolor consist of those three green tea ice cream, matcha the bright green color that has a balance green tea flavor, sencha light green with more subtle and creamier taste and last one houjicha light brown color that has more intense tea flavor. All of them taste soooooo gewwwd!! And it was one of the best parfait we had!! Btw, AnakJajan just found out that Ujicha Gion Tsujiri at Tokyo Solamachi is actually a branch of famous matcha greentea shop at Kyoto, no wonder it taste heavenly and one more thing specially for Tokto Solamachi branch you will get the special Tokyo Sky Tree spoon that you can keep.

Cube Choux JPY 353 – Brothers La Patisserie – Tokyo Solamachi Floor 2F
Brothers La Patisserie offers an eyecatching unique cube shape cream choux. The unique cube shape and interesting pattern immediately caught my eyes during our visit to Tokyo Solamachi, Tokyo Solamachi Town area.
But unfortunately the taste was dissapointing for me, the choux pastry texture was not impressive and we barely could taste the greentea flavor in it.

Showa Kinen Park is located around 30minutes train ride from Shinjuku station. It is indeed the largest and most beautiful park we visited, you can read detailed post about this park on Spring Memories at Showa Kinen post. During our visit, we bought an ice cream at the rest area, soft creamy yet light matcha ice cream served with a cone.

  1. Nana’s green tea, tunggu aku 10 hari lagi yaaa…
Aku sedikit ‘terobsesi’ sama matcha dan taro. Setiap liat kue-kue, minuman, atau eskrim matcha atau taro pasti gemes pengen dibeli.

  2. Disaat mau ke jepang pergi sendiri tapi bingung mau kemana aja, aku pertama kali kepikiran sama anakjajan dan buka blognya! Aku langsung catet tmpt2 yang recommended di itinerary aku :”) thankyou so much mr and mrs jajan! Keep sharing and inspiring! 🙂
