KIIN THAI BISTRO – PIK

Another new kid on the block of Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) North Jakarta, Kiin Thai Bistro focusing on modern Thai street food.

Kiin is managed by the same group with Ms. Choo restaurant therefore you can see the resemblance of dishes between from both restaurants. And since AnakJajan had a pleasant experience at Ms. Choo, we were excited to try Kiin.

FYI, Kiin is located at Ruko Crown Golf at the same row/ between The Cup Korean Food and Tim Ho Wan Dimsum PIK. Since the restaurant sign is kinda hard to notice, you can simply spot a building with huge cement concrete wall.

The restaurant’s ambiance is quite cozy with simple yet chic decor. I just love how the cement concrete wall, blue pattern tiles and dark wooden furniture combined together.

Soy Grassjelly IDR 35k// Lemongrass Cucumber IDR 35k // Orange Lemon Infused Water IDR 35k
Soymilk grassjelly drink was not as good as the one I had at Ms. Choo, while for the infused water is a great deal, nicely infused and comes with a huge jug.

Green Papaya Salad IDR 35k
Som Tam or green papaya salad with with cherry tomatoes, peanut and sweet sour tamarind dressing. Dressing was amazing, vegetable was fresh and crunchy but the green papaya was too green, the texture was still too hard to be enjoyable. On the other side, the mini crispy prawns were extremely addictive, savory, crunchy and peppery at the same time.

Crispy Pork Belly IDR 95k
One of our favorite dishes, deep fried pork belly till crispy served with green nam jim dipping sauce. The pork belly was fried nicely with crunchy outer while the dipping sauce was the main star that makes the whole dish special, tangy fresh and addictive. Just writing about it makes my mouth watering! On the other side, the boiled beansprout topping was unnecessary as it tasted bland without any seasoning at all.

Prawn Tom Yum IDR 55k
A very well balanced and delicious tom yam soup, savory, sweet, spicy and sour all together. Portion wise was a bit small it’s not recommended for sharing.

Prawn Curry IDR 75k
Smooth and aromatic prawn curry with baby corn, kaffir lime and Thai basil. Love the strong and bold curry flavor, best enjoyed with bowl of rice.

Grilled Pork Collar IDR 55k
Extremely juicy and well marinated grilled pork with intoxicating charred aroma sprinkled with fried shallot served with fresh vegetables and tamarind sauce. A must order!

Overall, Kiin managed to satisfy our longing for Thai cuisine with its bold and rich flavor in modern presentation. Judging from menu, it’s more recommended if you come in a group and order the dishes to be shared communally so you can try more variety. Let’s Jajan!
