In case you wanna try other type of beef from beef package you selected, you can easily order Ala Carte beef add-ons IDR 30k/plate for Special Beef, IDR 50k/plate for US Premium Beef and IDR 80k/plate for Wagyu Beef.
FYI, the best way to enjoy shabu-shabu beef is by dipping it into the hot boiling broth just for few seconds, in that way you will get the best tender texture of the meat. AnakJajan personally prefer to dip the meat less than 10 seconds to maintain the tenderness of beef.
We tried all three types of beef, Special, US Premium and Wagyu. All of them have a good quality with tender texture but specially for Wagyu beef, it stands out more compared to Special and US Premium beef. The US Premium has more playful and different texture from the fat and meat layers, while Special beef the most affordable one was surprisingly still manage to have a tender and enjoyable texture despite the fact that it has the least fat content. But of course Shabu Ghin’s Wagyu beef has won our heart with it’s tender melt-in-the-mouth texture, just look at the marbling!
Move on to the soup, there are five types of soup base to choose, Original Konbu, Chicken Mizutaki, Spicy Tonyu, Spicy Seafood and Sukiyaki. One pot of soup is already included in every All-You-Can-Eat or Set Menu package, but you can request an additional pot or change or soup for IDR 29k.
AnakJajan tried three kinds of soup, Original Konbu, Spicy Tonyu and Spicy Seafood. Original Konbu is the most comfortable and safest choice, it’s savory, light and packed with umami flavour, a type of soup that we will never get bored of. While Spicy Seafood soup, our first impression was hot! It was spicy, savory and surprisingly full of seafood flavor. And the last one we tried, Spicy Tonyu can be said as the signature soup at Shabu Ghin since you can find it only here at Shabu Ghin, rich savory slightly sweet soybean based soup with a bit of spicy kick, it was unique and very impressive we enjoyed it so much!
To complete the whole shabu-shabu experience, don’t forget to add vegetables, noodle, mushroom and seafood balls into the soup. AnakJajan must say that the choice from buffet bar is plentiful, vegetables were fresh and green, seafood balls were also yummy we just couldn’t stop having more. Don’t forget to mix your own dipping sauce too, we enjoyed the sweet spicy Suki sauce and our own garlic + chili + ponzu mixture with citrusy savoury garlicky taste, you definitely should try this genius combination.
AnakJajan also had various cooked items from buffet bar and everything was pretty yum! Japchae or stir-fried sweet potato noodle was flavorful with aromatic sesame oil flavor, Tempura was crunchy and not greasy and available in various ingredients such as mushroom and onion, Sushi was decent love the addition of crunchy garlic topping, Garlic Fried Rice was delightful and packed with garlic aroma, besides that there are lot’s of other dishes such as Gyudon, Noodle, Karaage, etc. There is a soft ice cream machine too but unfortunately it was out of order during our visit.
Overall, AnakJajan had a fulfilling and satisfactory shabu-shabu experience at Shabu Ghin. Tasty soup, great quality of beef and generous side dishes & condiments. Considering their quality, taste and variety, the price is very reasonable not to mention it’s currently on 50% discount promo. It’s a great place to gather with friends and family. Will definitely going back for more. Let’s Jajan!

Out of all the places we ate in Jakarta, this was my favourite. The food was unforgettable. Can’t stop thinking about it and searching for a place like this to go again. Most memorable food in a lifetime.
