Coming all the way from Australia, one of the best and famous coffee shops and roasters from Melbourne, ST. ALi is finally here in Jakarta, Setiabudi One, Kuningan. It is currently the most talk of the town for Jakartans especially coffee lovers.
In 2016, ST. ALi is going global and Jakarta is their first stop. Being the first ST. ALi in Asia, the opening of ST. ALi in Jakarta is a smart move I must say. The timing is just perfect considering coffee shop is very trending and happening at this moment in Jakarta. ST. ALi Jakarta is an exclusive collaboration between Common Grounds Roastery with ST. ALi.
Bright, clean and wide-open space, ST. ALi Jakarta has this kind of Melbournian charm with its interior. It is pretty spacious with around 100 capacities. Visiting this place just made me miss Australia so much.
For the coffee, ST. ALi offers various espresso based drinks (IDR 40-45k) and Filter Bar IDR 60k. Other than that various iced and non-coffee drinks are available. For the white espresso based drink such as cappuccino, flat white, latte and picollo, they are currently using their house blend Orthodox Blend with dark caramel, couverture chocolate and dried fruits tasting notes. We had a complete Melbournian coffee experience being able to see the coffee demo and enjoy the coffee made by award-winning baristas Matt Perger and Ben Morrow from ST. ALi.
In addition to their coffee, ST. ALi also offers all-day breakfast menu supervised directly by ST. ALi’s head chef Mark Richardson. They have wide range of brunch dishes from light granola with yoghurt till heavy dish such as steak sandwich.
Here are four signature dishes at ST. ALi:
Omega Love IDR 120k
Smoked salmon with new season potatoes, red onion, green beans, mixed leaves, olives, tomato, tarragon dressing and soft poached egg
ST ALi Chicken Burger IDR 135k
Southen Kentucky buttermilk fried chicken with coleslaw, seeded mayo and french fries
My Mexican Cousin IDR 155k
Secret recipe corn fritters with poached eggs, grilled halloumi, corn & cucumber salsa, kasundi and green salad
Koo Koo Ca Choo IDR 150k
Crispy potato has with mushroom duxelle, poached eggs, shaved parmesan, chlorophyll and truffle vinaigrette
Out of four dishes above, our personal favorite is Koo Koo Ca Choo, soft fluffy potato hash brown with crispy outer and flavorful finely chopped (minced) mixture of mushrooms with inviting truffle aroma. The dish was well seasoned and delicious. Don’t forget to ask for their signature brown sauce and hot sauce for extra flavor kick!
Overall, we are glad to see that the coffee culture from Melbourne has finally being brought to Jakarta. Let’s cheer for more and better coffee scene in Indonesia.
