One type of cuisine that we cannot live without is Indonesian cuisine. As much as we love traveling, we always crave for Indonesian food, the vibrant and full of spices dishes are just simply addictive for example Indonesian seafood dishes that are always full of powerful and tasteful chili and spices. Puang Oca is one of the recommended places for tasty and fresh seafood dishes in Jakarta.

Puang Oca restaurant has been established since 4 years ago in Jakarta following its success in Surabaya. The restaurant building is spacious with large parking space, located near Hotel Mulia Senayan and Lapangan Tembak Senayan.
The restaurant is specialized in fresh seafood dishes in Makassar style, a provincial capital of South Sulawesi Indonesia that is very famous for its seafood cuisine.
Sambal Set (free)
One of the most important things in Makassar seafood restaurant is their sambal! You cannot have Makassar style seafood without trying their sambal, in fact Sambal or chili sauce is one of the basic essentials for a hot addictive effect.

In Puang Oca, there are several types of chili condiments that are made with dozens of ingredients, you can mix it based on your preference, our own perfect combo would be mixing a lil bit of everything.

Tahu Goreng Puang Oca IDR 35k
For starter, AnakJajan tried Tahu Goreng Puang Oca, it is a deep fried tofu filled with tiger prawn filling. Love the crispy texture outside while soft savory inside, don’t forget to dip it into the chili sauce for extra spicy kick.

Acar Tuing-Tuing IDR 28k
A unique fish roe dish served with pickle, it was a perfect refreshing dish to boost our appetite with its refreshing light yet fresh flavor.

Ikan Sukang Bakar Rica IDR 160k (8 ounces)
Sukang or Leather Jacket fish is a popular choice of fish in Makassar style seafood restaurant, the fish has a meaty, dense yet soft texture that is very suitable to be grilled and served with spicy Rica sambal. This dish was one of AnakJajan’s favorite, it was fresh, meaty yet sweet with Rica spicy sambal that was not overpowering.

Palumara
Another signature dish from Makassar, Palumara, turmeric based soup dish with refreshing sour taste cooked with ‘Bandeng Cabut Duri’ or boneless bandeng/milkfish.

Udang Sito Balado Pete IDR 168k
Spicy aromatic balado shrimp with petai beans, the prawn was huge, fresh, sweet with just the right amount of spiciness. Simply satisfying!

Tumis Bunga Pepaya IDR 32k
Stir-fry papaya flower, it is a perfect dish to balance other heavy taste dishes.

Kepiting Jumbo Asap IDR 288k
Huge portion of smoked crab dish that is suitable for sharing. The crab was fresh, sweet and full of meat with delicious, smoky and flavorful seasoning, it goes well with rice.

Kudu Kudu Goreng Tepung 175k (7 ounces)
One of my all time favorite dish in Makassar seafood restaurant, battered deep fried kudu-kudu fish served with sweet and sour dipping sauce. The fish was tender and soft with crunchy savory golden batter outside, love it.

Kopi Jendral Bintang 4 IDR 98k
A unique coffee drink consists of coffee, condensed milk, floating egg and alcohol, the level of alcohol is adjustable from level 3 till 5. AnakJajan might say that it was uniquely different and delicious! It was creamy, warm, rich yet nutritious at the same time, perfect for rainy season.

Overall, Puang Oca restaurant serves fresh and flavorful seafood dishes, it’s a great place for satisfying Makassar seafood in Jakarta. Let’s Jajan!!
