Following the hype of ‘Indomie Kekinian’, there’s a new trend in Jakarta’s food scene, PORKY DISH! Lots of new restaurants specialize in various pork dishes especially Balinese Suckling Pig rice.

After our extremely satisfying experience at Pokenbir, AnakJajan heard that there’s another new place in Sunter area that sells various porky dish, Pig Hunter, that’s why we decided to visit the restaurant hoping that we could have another satisfying pork meal. AnakJajan visited the restaurant with our foodie friends on Saturday night, the restaurant was packed with customers we had to sit on the second floor smoking area, luckily there was nobody smoking on the second floor.
Since we were very hungry and all of my friends are crazy with porky dish, we ordered pretty much all of the signature pork dishes.
Sate Babi Kecap IDR 45k
The pork skewer was decent with sweet soy sauce and chili seasoning.

Nasi Bakar Babi IDR 64k
This one was beyond our expectation, compared to other dishes, it didn’t look as appealing as other dishes but it tasted DA BOMB!!! The rice was very nice and fragrant, filled with tender flavorful pork, wrapped nicely in banana leaves and then grilled to produce a pleasant aroma from the banana leaves. This one is highly recommended!

Nasi Babi Guling IDR 80k
On the other side, the highly raved Balinese suckling pig rice was unsatisfactory, the supposedly crispy suckling pig skin was very hard to chew and the pork meat was also dry and chewy, maybe we came at the wrong timing.

Nasi Goreng Pig Hunter IDR 40k
This one was not bad but pork meat has an unpleasant smell.

American Pork Ribs IDR 90k
For the ribs you can request honey or BBQ sauce, we opted for honey sauce. The ribs were also so so, not tender and also have an unpleasant pork smell.

Baby Buncis Telur Asin IDR 40k
The only non porky dish we ordered but I personally quite enjoyed it, crunchy green beans cooked with salted egg yolk seasoning.

Babi Goreng Tepung IDR 60k
Pork cubes deep fried until golden, this one was also da bomb! The meat was flavorful and deep fried into perfection, crunchy on the outside while tender on the inside.

Overall, based on our experience the food was a bit hit or miss, some dishes were nice, some still need improvement, the rice with banana leaves and deep fried pork were fantastic though. Let’s Jajan!
