Continuing my Dubai story, after IHOP, P.F. Chang’s and Shake Shack, Texas Roadhouse was the last restaurant to be reviewed to help them making decision whether to bring it to Indonesia or not. Texas Roadhouse is a legendary steak house chain originated from US specialized in American cuisine, steaks to be exactly.
The interior of Texas Roadhouse is very casual and nice, it reminds me of country ranch-style house which is very suitable for the brand and concept.
For the food here in Texas Roadhouse, there are some facts that I love from them. First would be the meat they use for steaks are not frozen and hand-cut in-house fresh daily and then the side dishes are also homemade from scratch.
Upon arrival, every customer will be served fresh baked bread and a bucket of peanuts. The server was attentive and friendly, and to entertain the guest every hour the servers will line up and dance.
1 AED (Arab Emirates Dirham) = around IDR 3.9k // 10 AED = USD 2.72 (September 2015)
Cherry Limade AED 19
Refreshing sweet and sour soda served in huge glass.
Fried Pickles AED 19
I’ve seen this kind of appetiser on a tv show about American restaurants and have been curious about it. That’s why I was so happy to see this menu at Texas Roadhouse and decided to order it immediately.
The pickles were nicely fried with savoury crunchy batter served with ranch dressing. It was enjoyable and unique but too sour for my liking.
Smoked Buffalo Wings AED 39
Lightly smoked chicken wings tossed in hot or mild tangy sauce and served with celery and bleu cheese dressing.
Love the fact that the chicken wings were still a bit crunchy even after being coated with sauce.
Steakhouse Salad AED 69
Filed medallion, bleu cheese crumbles, crisp cold greens, diced tomato, beef bacon, red onion and made from scratch crouton. Vegetables were fresh and meat was juicy. For the sauce, the waiter recommended Italian dressing for me as I requested for refreshing tangy dressing and I couldn’t ask for more because it was delicious and refreshing.
Dallas Filet 170gr AED 99
Dallas filet has the most tender yet juicy cut. I ordered the meat in medium and it was nicely cooked with hot pink centre as for the sauce you can request for mushroom or peppercorn sauce to go with the steak.
New York Strip 370gr AED 120
Not a fan of this one as it was not as tender nor juicy as I want it to be.
Texas Roadhouse is not joking with their side dishes, for each main course you will be served with two portions of made from scratch side dishes with a generous portion. There are plentiful choices of side dish starting from baked potato, mashed potato, steak fries, seasoned rice, house salad, caesar salad, fresh vegetables, buttered corn, honey glazed carrot, coleslaw and soup. Potato, salad and soup were good but on the other side the vegetables were overly cooked.
Ribeye Ribs Combo with Beef Rib AED 129
Definitely a winner dish! Now I understand why everybody keeps telling me that I should order the ribeye steak as it tasted extremely tender, juicy and flavourful as well. So good I won’t mind having it without any sauce. As for the ribs, it was tender and fall of the bone with flavourful smoky bbq sauce but the outer part of the meat was a bit dry maybe because of the grilling process.
Country Fried Chicken AED 54
Extremely huge fried chicken fillet, it’s so huge I think I can cover my whole face with it. The chicken was nicely fried, crunchy on the outside and not dry inside. The most unique part would be their made from scratch cream gravy, it’s creamy, savory and different.
Grilled Salmon AED 69
Nicely seasoned and moist grilled salmon and it tasted even better when I paired with their tantalizing homemade tartar sauce.
Big Ol’ Brownie AED 28
For dessert there are only two options and AnakJajan opted for the Big Ol’ Brownie. The presentation honestly didn’t look as appetising as the picture on menu book, too messy and a bit tacky. In terms of flavor, the brownie was not bad, it has a moist texture only it was too sweet.
Overall, Texas Roadhouse serves hearty meal that will definitely satisfy every meat lovers. About the price for me personally think that 20% cheaper will be more acceptable and reasonable for Indonesia market and also despite their fame for big portion it’s way too big for Indonesian for example their smallest portion of steak 300gr is actually the largest portion in Indonesia, I think it needs some adjustment. One more thing, about the location I personally can imagine the restaurant doing better in Bali than Jakarta.
