Currently one of the new and happening yakiniku place for south Jakartans, Japanese yatai Tanpopo Jakarta near Gandaria City.

AnakJajan and friends visited this place for dinner after our awesome Korean lunch at Seorak Chuoetang. Tanpopo is a yatai or Japanese style mobile street food stand that is usually set up in early evening on pedestrian walkways similar with “warung tenda” concept in Indonesia, hence it opens only for dinner or late nite supper from 6 PM. The yatai is located across the street of Gandaria City Mall.

Tanpopo serves affordable and Halal Japanese yakiniku along with Ramen, Curry Rice, Oden and Gyudon with price range from IDR 5k to IDR 35k for food and beverage.

Beef Hamburg – Yakiniku IDR 30k
Short Rib US – Yakiniku IDR 30k
Chicken Tandoori – Yakiniku IDR 30k
Customers will get DIY yakiniku experience where they must cook their own yakiniku with mini yakiniku charcoal grill on the table, it could be a fun yet tiring experience since the grill is a bit small and it takes a while to get the meat fully cooked.

As for the meat, Tanpopo offers various beef and chicken meet such as Beef Short Ris, Wagyu, Teriyaki Chicken, Tandoori Chicken. To accompany the yakiniku, the salty soy sauce and sweet salty yakiniku sauce are provided. The short rib was pretty nice while the chicken tandoori was kinda bland.

Oden IDR 5k/ pc
Oden is a Japanese dish consisting of various ingredients such as boiled eggs, daikon, fishcakes, etc stewed in a light dashi broth. There were various fishcakes and boiled eggs that you can choose, if you want to try it, I recommend the fishcake with mushroom in it, it costs IDR 5k per piece.

Spicy Negi Sio Ramen IDR 35k
Spicy salt base ramen with bean sprout, chicken, peas and hardboiled egg, this one was not memorable.

Beef Curry Rice IDR 30k
The curry was pretty nice with good seasoning, only the rice was overcooked with mushy texture.

Overall, Tanpopo serves Japanese yakiniku with reasonable price, taste wise food was decent but nothing to shout about. However considering the price, AnakJajan must give Tanpopo two thumbs up for offering Japanese food in a more affordable way. Let’s Jajan!
