It is no longer a secret that Thailand has a very interesting food and beverage scenes, there are so many recommended restaurants and cafes that you must visit in Thailand especially Bangkok, so AnakJajan decided to make a series of Bangkok food guides starting with complete list of Best Coffee Shops/ Cafes in Bangkok.

During our #AnakJajanThailand summer trip July 2016 earlier, I posted quite a lot of random snaps on our snapchat: ANAKJAJAN and lots of Sahabat Jajan messaged me and told me that they are looking forward to our blogpost about our Bangkok trip.

Since there are so many places that AnakJajan’ve visited in Bangkok, we’re going to separate the blogpost into at least two parts, the first one is Bangkok Coffee Shop guide, AnakJajan are going to show you list of recommended and hip coffee shops, then after that hopefully I can get the mood to start writing the ultimate long list of Bangkok Food Guide which includes all the yummy places we’ve tried from dessert, street food, restaurant, cafe, etc.

Let’s start with the Coffee Shop Guide, shall we?? AnakJajan are going to share with you a super long and hopefully complete enough list of coffee shops in Bangkok. There are more than 50 coffee shops, some of them are only focus on coffee while some also offer interesting casual dining or brunch menu. We divide the list per area so it is easier for you to do your coffee shop hopping activity. Enjoy! 🙂

A. SUKHUMVIT – THONG LOR – EKKAMAI
This three areas are the best area for cafe/ coffee shop hopping. Especially Ekkamai area has lots of hip and cool cafes with great coffee that are available around this area within walking distance, you can simply walk from one to another.

Casa Lapin x26
Sukhumvit Soi 26
BTS Phrom Phong
Opening Hours: 08.00 – 22.00
Casa Lapin has several outlets in Bangkok but our most favorite outlet would be the Casa Lapin x26 located around 500-600 meters from Phrom Phong BTS station or emQuartier mall. The spacious space combines hostel, co-working space, flower shop and coffee shop in one building with industrial concept using brick walls and wooden floor.
The coffee here is quite nice, you can enjoy pastry or heavy meal as well here. The front area is the best and the prettiest, we just love to sit there while looking at the vintage flower shop.

Roast Cafe
The Helix Quartier, EmQuartier, 1st floor
BTS Phrom Phong Station
Sukhumvit Rd, 10110
Opening Hours: 10.00 – 22.00
Roast is one of the most famous cafes in Bangkok for coffee and brunch. From all outlets, their outlet in EmQuartier is the easiest to reach using BTS since the mall is located just in front of Phrom Phong BTS station.
Personally the coffee for us was just okay, it was decent and definitely not the best in town, but the food were great, AnakJajan ordered some dishes and all of them are satisfying especially the Corned Beef Hash, even the simple hand cut fries were sooo addictive, crunchy and seasoned nicely.

Toby’s Coffee
77 Sukhumvit 38 Alley, Phra Khanong, 10110
Opening Hours:
Tuesday – Sunday 09.00 – 22.30
Toby’s Coffee is so far our most favorite place for brunch and coffee in Bangkok. The decor is absolutely lovely and full of homey vibes with the combination of cement floor, brick walls, bright natural light and wooden furniture.

The brunch, casual dining and coffee place serves various espresso coffee drinks along with non coffee drinks such as cold pressed juice, wine, beer, tea, etc, the food selection is also plentiful. Please note that brunch menu is available only from 09.00 to 16.00.

Food and coffee at Toby’s Coffee were impressive!! If you enjoy espresso based drink with milk, try their Magic, it is basically a cup of cappuccino but with two shots of espresso, it was intense yet smooth at the same time.

For the food, I was planning to order their best selling dish Fairy Floss Toast but sadly it was soldout, so as replacement we ordered Crispy French Toast and another best selling dish Egg Mikado.

The Crispy French Toast was surprisingly so soooooooo GOOD!! Soft fluffy eggy brioche fried perfectly until golden crispy drizzled with maple syrup and served with one scoop of ice cream, berries, pecan and dehydrated strawberry. On the other side, the Egg Mikado was nice but not memorable, poaches eggs on sourdough with house-cured salmon and orange hollandaise sauce.

Hands and Heart Cafe
Ascella Condominium
33 Sukhumvit 38 Alley, 10110
Opening Hours: 07.00 – 21.00
Small little cafe tuck inside condominium with all white minimalist modern decor, located around 200-300m walking distance from Toby’s Coffee. The bright and instagenic coffee shop offers signature creation of coffee drinks with funny names such as Very Thai Coffee for rich cream with milk and coffee combination or Clean Hands for caramel, milk and coffee combo.
The shop also offers few of food items to accompany such as brioche, pastries, cake and granola. AnakJajan cannot comment much on the coffee, we initially wanted to try their cold brew coffee but it was sold out and since it was very hot, we ordered iced coffee drinks. Both food we ordered Happy Monkey Brioche and Croque Monsieur were surprisingly very enjoyable, only the portion is a bit small.

Roots Coffee
the COMMONS (Market floor)
Thonglor 17, Sukhumvit 55, 10110
Opening Hours:
Monday – Thursday 08.00 – 20.00
Friday – Sunday 08.00 – 21.00

Among so many coffee shops in Bangkok, Roots Coffee holds the reputation as the BEST COFFEE, it is a must visit for all coffee lovers. The coffee shop used to open only on Sunday at Ekkamai area but they have closed the Ekkamai outlet for good and moved to theCOMMONS so now you can enjoy your coffee at Roots everyday, the new signature drink Honey Malt Cold Brew supposedly said to be a must order there, will definitely try it someday in the future.

One Ounce for Onion
19/12 Ekkamai Soi 12
Opening Hours:
Monday – Friday 09.00 – 18.00
Saturday – Sunday 09.00 – 20.00
Still in the Ekkamai area, One Ounce for Onion is another recommended coffee shop located in the middle of residential area offering in-house roasted coffee filter or espresso and lightmeal.
Since it was a very hot day, AnakJajan opted for cold refreshing coffee drink, their signature Black Chinotto, it was impressively good, fizzy cold and intense with delightful citrusy notes.

Un Fashion Vintage Cafe
3 ซอย เอกมัย 10 Soi Sukhumvit 63
Opening Hours: 12.00 – 21.00
Un Fashion Vintage is another cafe with interesting decor, the building interior has a unique yet vintage asymmetrical shape with red brick walls and old rusty elements, while inside the cafe it has a very comfortable yet homey vibes with interesting seating area that kinda resembles the scene of RV vehicle if you know what I mean.
For coffee we cannot comment much since we only had their Iced Caramel Macchiato that was pleasant, on the other side the waffle was lovely, crisp on the outside while soft fluffy inside served with creamy custard sauce, thick blueberry jam and vanilla ice cream.

B. SATHORN – SILOM
Rocket Coffeebar S.12
147, Sathorn Soi 12
Opening Hours: 07.00 – 21.00
Rocket Coffeebar is an interesting place with Scandinavian decor serving wide variety of cocktail, tea, juice, coffee and brunch menus. The coffeebar opens early from 7am making it a great and cozy place for breakfast or brunch.
Unlike the typical brunch place, the food selection in Rocket is quite interesting and different, AnakJajan ordered their Swedish Meatballs, it is available for lunch after 11am, the dish consists of pork and beef meatballs served with gravy, mashed potatoes, lingonberries, it was enjoyable with moist tender meatballs and smooth savory gravy.

The Triple Decker Roast Pork sandwich was also very interesting with the combination of dark rye with orange zest, allspice, pickled cucumber, cabbage, romaine, red onion, tomato, mustard cream and a side of english mustard, love the freshness of the ingredients but not a fan of the dark rye texture. For the coffee, their signature cold brew Rocket Fuel is a must try!

Yes, definitely! I’m planning to write a super long Bangkok Food Guide starting from the budget streetfood to cafe/restaurant, meanwhile you can check our preview post about Talad Rod Fai Market, it is a great market with lots of cheap stuff from streetfood, clothing, etc https://anakjajan.com/2016/08/09/thailand-talad-rot-fai-train-night-market-bangkok/

Hi i enjoy reading your blog please keep posting another travel and food guide :3
Thank you 🙂
Thank you very much for this very informative post. I’ll be travelling to Bangkok and staying in Sukhumvit in November, will be dropping by some of the cafes in your post. 🙂
You’re most welcome, glad to to hear that our guides are useful. Have fun in Bangkok 🙂
Aside from having good coffee and food, most of the cafes here in Bangkok really invest in good interior! Very minimalist and cozy that a lot of us just want to stay or live in any of these coffee shops.
