Talking about Thai food, the festive sour, sweet, savory and spicy flavors always keep us coming back for more. For Thai food cravings fix, there’s a new option in town, the newly opened Thai Street restaurant in Living World Alam Sutera and Grand Metropolitan Mall Bekasi.

AnakJajan visited Thai Street restaurant in Living World Alam Sutera, it’s managed by the same owner of Koba BBQ.

Inspired by the street food in Bangkok, Thai Street aims to offer flavorful Thai cuisine with affordable price and casual concept, and to make it more enjoyable and approachable for many people, the food here contains no pork and no lard. There are many options of dishes from rice, noodle, soup, salad, crab, prawn, etc with price ranging from IDR 22.5k to IDR 69k, let’s see some of the recommended dishes.

Thai Coffee IDR 19.5k // Orange Grandma Ice Tea IDR 29.5k
For drink, Thai Street offers many options of drinks including the signature Thai Tea but since I was sleepy and Mr. Jajan wanted something refreshing, we ordered Thai Coffee and Orange Grandma Ice Tea. The Orange Grandma Ice Tea was really unique, citrusy sweet and sour tea drink with crushed mint leaves topped with orange sorbet, it was nice and refreshing, my only complain would be the mint leaves make it difficult to drink with straw.

Crab Claws with Asian Hot Chilli Sauce IDR 69k
The first dish that instantly caught Mr. Jajan’s eyes was Crab Claws with Asian Hot Chilli Sauce, it contains of two huge crab claws and some small claws cooked in Asian style chili sauce, the seasoning has a nice and rich depth of flavors, savory with subtle sweet and mild level of spiciness. I think they added dried shrimps or “ebi” in the sauce since it has this nice aroma from fried ebi

Squid with Salted Egg yolk IDR 69k
Both of my favorite items in one dish, deep fried squid and salted egg yolk seasoning. Squid was battered and deep fried until golden crunchy while salted egg yolk seasoning was very buttery, savory, rich and fragrance. It was enjoyable but can be a bit greasy after a few bites and the squid can be more tender IMHO.

Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab IDR 38.5k
As a big fan of deep fried dishes, I enjoyed it, the soft shell crab was lightly battered and then deep fried till golden. Very crunchy, savory, addictive and also not greasy.

Tom Yum Seafood IDR 59k
Tom Yum soup is our must order dish every time we visit Thai restaurant and Thai Street’s version of tom yum was simply nice with just the right amount of spiciness, tanginess and seasoning. I felt warmed up after I had the first spoonful, also the ingredients were very generous.

Mango Salad with Crispy Catfish IDR 35k
This dish was definitely what we needed to give a nice balance to other rich tasting dishes. Refreshing, sour and sweet altogether.

Stir Fry Yellow Curry Seafood IDR 75k
Mr. Jajan’s fav, squid, prawn, and clam cooked in thick yellow curry. It was very tantalizing, the kind of dish that calls for rice.

Mango Sticky Rice IDR 39.5k
For a sweet ending, AnakJajan had one Thailand’s most popular and signature items, sticky rice drenched in salty coconut milk and served complemented nicely with juicy sweet mango.

Overall, the Thai dishes in Thai Street exceeded our expectations, rich in flavors, reasonable price and generous portion, will be back for more definitely. Let’s Jajan!!
