AnakJajan have received so many questions from you Sahabat Jajan about recommended Halal Korean BBQ restaurant but sometimes it can be tricky to find since most of Korean BBQ restaurants serve Pork, however our recent finding can be quite a good news for you. Koba Korean BBQ is a Moslem friendly BBQ restaurant since all the food here contain no pork and no alcohol, also no MSG 🙂

The main focus of Koba is to provide Korean BBQ with more budget friendly price but still in a good quality, that explains the reasonable pricing. For the menu, the signature dish would be the BBQ but other than that you can also find great variety of other Korean dishes such as soup, pancake, rice, steamed dish, stir fried dish, dosirak/ rice box and gelato.

All meat were tender enough and seasoned nicely. AnakJajan’s personal favorite would be the tender yet chewy Daepae Woo Seol or beef tounge and Yangnyeom Galbi or marinated beef ribs with juicy tender texture.

There are three condiments to season the meat, salt, savory ssamjang and sweet spicy gochujang based sauce. For the salt, AnakJajan highly recommended you to ask for sesame oil as it will enhance the taste of your BBQ meat. Our favorite way to enjoy Korean BBQ is by wrapping the meat with lettuce plus a lil bit of ssamjang sauce and kimchi.

Gul Jeon/ Oyster Pancake IDR 69k
The Korean style pancake with oyster inside was decent, I was hoping that the outer part could be a bit more crispy while soft tender on the inside.

Compared to the Jjigae above, this one has bolder flavors and more salty, the spicy soup dish consists of shredded beef with scallion, bean sprout and glass noodle.

Koba Dancing Rice IDR 49k
Korean mixed rice with beef, kimchi, mixed vegetables and sunny side up egg served in traditional Korean rice box and to enjoy it you have to shake it in order to mix all of the ingredients evenly. For me basically it’s a Korean bibimbap in a box. It tasted pretty yummy, seasoning was well balanced with hint of spicy flavor from gochujang or red pepper paste and delightful aroma from sesame oil.

Jap Chae IDR 64k
Japchae is a Korean dish made from sweet potato glass noodle, stir fried with sesame oil, soy sauce and various ingredients. Koba’s version of Japchae has beef and vegetables with the glass noodle, it was pleasant and flavorful enough with hint of sesame oil.

Thai Tea// Chocolate Ferrero Gelato IDR 30k/ 2 scoops
There are four options of Gelato: Thai tea, Chocolate Ferrero, Green Tea and Orange Sorbet, AnakJajan had the Thai Tea and Chocolate Ferrero and both were beyond our expectations, extremely smooth, very aromatic and deep in flavors. It was sooo good I might be coming to KOBA simply for the gelato 😀 FYI, you can also mix two flavors for IDR 32k.

Overall, great in flavor, nice options, AnakJajan had a quite satisfying Korean BBQ meal. It’s a great strategy for Koba to offer Korean BBQ with reasonable price but still in good quality because it can be more affordable for more people. Let’s Jajan!
