New in town, Rock Paper Scissors is a modern Japanese bistro located in the East Building, Mega Kuningan, South Jakarta, managed by the same group with Bottega Ristorante and Wilshire.
Compared to the two sister restaurants with lavish decor, Bottega Ristorante and Wilshire, RPS has a more casual decor with two areas, indoor and outdoor, for the indoor area there’s a dedicated coffee bar while the outdoor area has a nice glass house concept with eye catching large bar on the side. To entertain the guests, RPS provides live bands on Wednesday and DJs on Friday & Saturday every week.
As for the food, serving Yoshoku dishes or Japanese dishes influenced by Western styles of cooking, you can find various unique modern dish creations by the the head chef Cla Lisca along with wide range of wine, liquor and cocktails curated by mixologist Nick Lim. Here are some of the specialty dishes that AnakJajan’ve tasted:
Cappuccino IDR 30k // Cafe Latte IDR 33k
Coffee in RPS is crafted by the founder of Common Grounds Roastery and as predicted, the coffee was great! Great body, nice balance and chocolatey!
Tempura Shishito & Citrus Sald IDR 55k
Deep fried Japanese peppers, ooba leaves with citrus salt

Seaweed Fried with Truffle Aioli IDR 65k
A perfect combination that simply cannot go wrong! Nicely golden fried shoestring fries tossed with savory seaweed or nori flakes and then served with creamy truffle aioli. Seriously sooo good and addictive!

RPS Dirty Burger IDR 130k
This menu was good! The bun was deep fried and filled with beef patty, served with fries and foie chantilly. Bun was good, beef patty was juicy tender yet seasoned nicely but the best part would be the foie gras chantilly!! The best way to enjoy it is to spread the foie chantilly mixture into the bun and then take a bite. The foie gras mixture was soooo good, velvety smooth, well seasoned, creamy with hint of delightful foie gras aroma & taste, AnakJajan love the fact that the foie gras tasted really nice without any unpleasant gamey taste.
Karaage Don IDR 79k
Chicken karaage, nagoya special sauce, shredded cabbage
The rice bowl dish consists of golden deep fried chicken karaage with creamy sauce, onsen egg and shredded cabbage and tangy plum/ ume furikake. It was decent but AnakJajan personally think that it’s lacking of special X factor, perhaps more sauce to bind the karaage and rice.
Miso Cured Black Cod IDR 85k
3 days marinated cod fish, pan roasted edamame, baby corn
The marination of the fish was great, all of the flavors were fully absorbed into it, however it was under our expectation, we were expecting the cured black cod will have a nice smooth buttery texture but unfortunately it wasn’t.
Striploin & Truffle Don IDR 135k
Striploin steak, onsen egg, truffle oil, rice
If there’s one dish that we 100% certainly will order on another visit to RPS, that would be Striploin & Truffle Don. The fluffy Japanese rice, savory sauce with subtle sweet taste, creamy onsen egg, succulent juicy beef steak, aromatic truffle oil, all of the ingredients were complementing each other nicely, each spoonful was a pure bliss! MUST ORDER!

Deconstructed Shibuya Toast IDR 79k
Sugar butter toasted brioche bread, berries compote, honey, vanilla ice cream

Sponge Cake with Miso Glazed IDR 50k
The miso glaze was genius, great consistency with delightful sweet salty aroma and subtle hint of miso aroma, however for the cake, instead of sponge cake, I think it’s more suitable if we call it pound cake or else since the texture was very dense and crumbly, luckily they serve it with vanilla ice cream so it can help moisten the cake a bit.

Overall, AnakJajan had a pleasant first impression to Rock Paper Scissors, great coffee, nice ambiance, as for the food some were decent but some were memorable enough that make us want to go back. Let’s Jajan!!
