AnakJajan have heard about this brand for a while because besides retail, they also produce cakwe in large scale for major restaurants in Jakarta. Finally we managed to try Xideli recently, we visited one of their newest outlets in Muara Karang (near Superindo Muara Karang), the shop has open kitchen with a few air conditioned seating area.

If we’re not mistaken, Xideli has many outlets such as Greenlake City Duri Kosambi (Food City), LTC Glodok (food court), Pasar Puri Pesanggrahan, Taman Anggrek (food court, on renovation), Jakarta Fruit Market Greenville, Pasar Sinpasa Summarecon Serpong, etc. You can check on GoFood with keyword “CAKWE SINGAPORE XIDELI” to see their outlets or visit their Instagram. We heard that they provide half cooked version via Tokopedia too.

The product concept of Xideli is pretty simple, homemade Cakwe or Youtiao or dough fritter and other types of dough fritters. From the display, we can see that have 5 options: Cakwe, Kue Bantal, Roti Kacang Merah, Hum Chin Pang, and Onde Onde, each costs IDR 8k/ pc.

Price wise, it’s higher compared to the ones from the street, to answer our curiosity, the owner told us they use premium quality imported ingredients. All the recipes are learned from Singapore created since 1920. Of course taste is the main determinant, let’s give it a try.

After one bite, AnakJajan can say that it’s definitely worth the price. The cakwe has crunchy texture on the outside while fluffy soft chewy on the inside, a perfect texture and taste for cakwe just the way we want.

Sambal Cakwe Xideli IDR 8k/ bottle
Eating Cakwe isn’t complete without pairing it with chili sauce. Due to the high price of ingredients, they couldn’t provide free sauce but honestly we wouldn’t mind paying for it since it’s really good! Spicy and sour just the way we like, perfect for deep fried cakwe.

Kue Bantal IDR 8k
Mr. Jajan’s favorite is their Kue Bantal or known as butterfly bun. The bun has more brownish color since the sugar gets caramelized. It’s fluffy soft with nice caramelization on the outside, Mr. Jajan said that he would love to pair it with condensed milk next time.
