Where do you go usually when you are at Ubud, Bali for breakfast, lunch, dinner or even coffee or tea time?? Have you been to Petani restaurant?? This time AnakJajan are going to review Petani Restaurant at Alaya Ubud Bali.
Petani is a casual dining street front restaurant run by Alaya Hotel Ubud Bali located in the Hanoman street. The moment you stepped in the restaurant you will get a nice relax and sit back ambiance decorated with vintage rustique decorations with touch of Indonesian traditional elements. The interior of Petani restaurant was designed by Moroccan-born interior decorator Zohra Boukhari.
Serving coffee with great quality, the coffee beans are supplied by Indonesian famous roasting company that is Anomali Coffee. If you notice well, in the front area you can see the one and only in Bali limited edition La Marzocco FB/70 espresso machine.
Here in Petani you can also experience manual brewing coffee using Siphon, Clever, V-60, Chemex, Kalita Wave or French Press. To go with coffee, plentiful selection of cakes are available. Many cafe or coffee shops’ cakes here are supplied by them.
Talking about the food, Petani serves wide range selection of food starting from traditional Balinese to western food from appetizer, soup, main courses till dessert. Since it’s hard to find a tasty Balinese food in Jakarta, AnakJajan opted for traditional Balinese menu.
Canape de Bali IDR 55k
Perfect starter to try a lil bit of everything with traditional Balinese seasoning such as caramelized chicken wing, chicken satay, chili beef, fish sambal, spring roll and the refreshing sweet sour salad.
Ayam Panjingan IDR 89k
Our favorite number 1 menu here, slow smoked half spring chicken in Balinese spices with sweet corn rice and sambal goreng. Chicken was well marinated with rich Balinese yellow tumeric seasoning, the slow smoked process produce a nice tender texture from the chicken. We also love their steamed rice mixed with juicy corn, sweetness from the corn blends really well the the savory flavor from chicken.
Ayam Manado IDR 69k
Chicken filled seasoned with chili tomato served with vegetable, steamed rice and topped with poached egg. Chicken was juicy with comforting not spicy tomato chili seasoning, break the poached egg and let the egg yolk melts into the chicken for more flavor.
Crispy Duck IDR 92k
One of the signature Balinese dish that you have to try while in Ubud is Balinese Crispy Duck and you can have it here. Huge portion of half free range duck deep fried until crispy and then served with lawar vegetables and steamed rice. To complete the crispy duck, there are three types of condiments provided tomato sambal, matah sambal and bali sambal, try dipping the duck meat in to these condiments to give an extra flavor and spicy kick.
Balinese Pork Rice IDR 79k
Traditional Balinese pork mixed rice with vegetables, satay, sausage, crunchy pork crackers. The mixed rice was very enjoyable for us, a must try menu especially if you are fan of pork dishes.
Nasi Raja IDR 99k
Nasi Raja is one of the signature and must try dish at Petani restaurant. Huge Ubud royal rijstaffel consist of yellow rice with 8 kinds of side dishes starting from pork, chicken, fish to prawn in one dish. Each side dish has their own flavor characteristic that definitely won’t let you bored while eating it, our most favorite side dish would be the pork belly with well marinated yellow tumeric seasoning. For this kind of portion, AnakJajan must say IDR 99k is super affordable.
Overall, if you are staying in Ubud or traveling to Ubud, Petani restaurant definitely can be your choice for breakfast/ lunch/ dinner or even tea/ coffee time. Let’s Jajan!!
