1945 Restaurant serves authentic Indonesian food with fine dining experience where they elevate the familiar Indonesian dishes into another level of gourmet premium dining experience.
Located inside the newly opened Fairmont Hotel at Senayan area, 1945 had their soft opening on Indonesian independence day 17 August 2015 and they will be having their grand opening on 1st October 2015. FYI specially during the soft opening period, 1945 will be accepting customer via reservation only. They will start to open for walk-in customer after the grand opening, but we highly recommend you to make a reservation just to make sure.

Basically the restaurant is consist of two main areas, Lounge area and Fine Dining area. For you who want to sit and relax while drinking and having casual meal, you can sit at the lounge area. The interior of this posh restaurant is very elegant yet simple with dimmed light.

Talking about their food, 1945 Restaurant is managed by the same group with Sate Khas Senayan and Tesate whose quality and taste of the food are already unquestionable.
Adopting rijsttafel serving style, the waiter and waitress will line up and take turns serving food that will make you feel like a king or queen.
Gorengan
This platter of fritters are perfect for sharing, it is consist of prawn fritter, fried cassava wedges, tricolour yam fries and rempeyek crackers served with small green chili and peanut sauce as condiments.

Tahu Isi
1945 did a great job in taking a simple stuffed fried tofu in to another level. The hollow tofu was stuffed with prawn and topped with seared scallop and caviar. Juicy prawn filling, sweet and nicely seared scallop, it was extremely addicting and delicious. The sweet and sour chili sauce inside just made it much more palatable.

Sate
Sate is a traditional Indonesian meat dish served on bamboo skewers, here in 1945 there are four types of meat to choose wagyu beef, chicken oyster, lamb tenderloin and gindara. AnakJajan had Wagyu Beef and Chicken Oyster sate, both were nicely seasoned and grilled. The meat was tender, seasoned and grilled nicely served on top of flaming charcoal with rice cake and smooth peanut sauce.

Lilit Kepiting
Generous amount of crab meat inside the crab cake served with urap vegetables and sweet rujak dressing.

Nasi Goreng Kampung
Kampung style fried rice served with egg, chicken, pickled vegetables and emping crackers. It may look simple but it is bursting with flavor! Lovely and very aromatic it will make you unable to stop after you have a first spoon.

Nasi Goreng Wagyu
This dark looking fried rice was made of black and white rice combination with wagyu meat and terasi shrimp sambal seasoning. Wagyu meat was not as tender as my expectation but still nice. Love the addition of crunchy fried dried prawn bits in it.

Duck Galangal
Crispy fried duck confit served with Asian greens and sweet galangal dressing. Love the juicy yet crispy fried duck especially when paired with refreshing sweet and sour greens, pomegranate and pomelo.

Gindara
Perfectly cooked gindara filled that will literally melts in your mouth! Soooo good!! It was sooooo tender and seasoned nicely with 1945 sweet terasi infused sauce.

The perfect way to eat Indonesian food would be having it with rice right? Here in 1945, they provide three types of rice white, yellow and black.
Tongseng Lamb Chop
An absolutely must have for meat especially lamb lovers! Deep fried sous vide lamb chop served over stir fried vegetables in tongseng sauce. Lamb chop was cooked and seasoned nicely it didn’t have any unpleasant smell at all while the tongseng sauce was very rich with spices and coconut milk.

Nastar Cake
Time for dessert! Nastar or pineapple tart is a common Indonesian sweet treat and here in 1945 you can find the elevated version of Nastar in sponge cake shape. Two layers of golden pineapple sponge cake with pineapple jam filling and topped with crisp butter crumble. Cake was very moist and delightful, it kinda reminds me of moist carrot cake only in pineapple flavor.

Frozen Srikaya Souffle
Srikaya filling wrapped in light cream souffle and served with pandan-flavored glutinous rice. Sweet, salty, smooth and creamy at the same time, lovely!

Tape Cheesecake
This special cheesecake has a very distinctive yet subtle flavor of permented tape. The texture was smooth and soft with the right amount of creaminess and sweetness.

Overall, 1945 did a great job in elevating Indonesian food to another level, although all the dishes were delicious, but my favorite part was the dessert. Let’s dine!
