Indonesian food is undoubtedly one of the most delicious cuisine, rich in spices and full of flavors with wide variety of dishes from vegetables to meat, sweet to savory, snack to heavy meal, street food to restaurant. 1945 restaurant is one of the top and best places in Jakarta that offers reimagined Indonesian cuisine in fine dining concept with authentic flavors.
Indonesian food may be one of the most delicious but as a food blogger, we must say that it’s always quite challenging for us to take a great picture since it’s not really photogenic dish, but we don’t have that kind of problem here in 1945 because they always deliver beautiful and of course delicious plates of Indonesian food.
Here in 1945 you can find various traditional Indonesian dishes cooked with modern techniques using premium ingredients, a new level of Indonesian cuisine we must say. After our first visit few months ago, AnakJajan recently visited 1945 restaurant again to try some of their new dishes. Let’s take a look:
Cocktail Rujak Manggaroska IDR 110k
One word, AMAZING!!! One of the BEST cocktails AnakJajan’ve ever had! Period!!!
The cocktail consists of a mixture of crushed red chili pepper, mango, kaffir leaves, tamarind and palm sugar shaken with mango vodka and garnished with mango pickle covered with chili lime salt. I’m sooo amazed by how well they capture the flavors of Indonesian Rujak into a cocktail drink, it was refreshing, sweet and sour with a bit of spicy kick, love it!
Sayur Bayam IDR 70k
Light entree with comforting taste and smooth texture consists of spinach puree served with deep fried polenta, crispy corn crackers with anchovies, accompanied with fresh salad and edible flower.
Sayur Asem Octopus IDR 95k
Sayur asem is a popular yet common Indonesian tamarind soup dish and to elevate the dish onto another level, 1945 enriches the soup with pan seared baby octopus, scallops and prawn, shimeji mushroom and local vegetables. Baby octopus, scallops and prawn were fresh and cooked perfectly with tender texture, the soup has just the right amount of sweetness and sourness level, a perfect taste of Sayur Asem soup AnakJajan must say.
Pepes Seafood IDR 250k
Pepes is another traditional Indonesian dish that is usually wrapped in banana leaves and then steamed or grilled. And 1945’s rendition of pepes is very interesting and outstandingly delicious! Instead of banana leaf, they wrap the seafood with edible crispy fillo pastry. The seasoning was really spot on, rich in spices and very aromatic, highly recommended!
Buntel Rice Burger IDR 110k
Unique burger dish with caramelized seared rice cake ‘bun’, crispy onion, lamb patty and fresh salad. Personally not a big fan of lamb dish, but this one was an exception, the lamb patty was very delicious it didn’t have any unpleasant smell at all, and the patty was paired nicely with the rice cake with appetizing caramelized aroma.
Martabak Wagyu IDR 140k
Another common street food that 1945 magically transforms into a new and pretty looking dish, Martabak or Indonesian savory pancake.
1945’s version of martabak uses good quality of ingredients, curry flavored wagyu beef, scrambled duck egg, leeks and onion in crispy fillo pastry with pickles, pomelo salad and martabak sauce in unique jelly form. I was fascinated by how good the dish was, it looks totally different with the traditional martabak but it tastes just awesomely authentic!!
Overall, AnakJajan had another amazing experience of Indonesian food, 1945 once again did their magic in creating amazingly delicious Indonesian food with fancy and elegant presentation, two thumbs up for bringing Indonesian food into fine dining concept! Let’s Jajan!!
