Waku Waku is one of the newest and coolest ‘warung’ for hangout in Jakarta. Located strategically in central of Jakarta, in Senayan area, Waku Waku serves various typical ‘warung’ style dishes such as noodle, rice, toast, dimsum, chicken wings and drinks with modern twist and affordable price.

Waku Waku stands for ‘Warung Kumpul, Warung Ku’ that means my hangout & eating place, it is located at the second floor of the gas station near Senayan City, right beside BINUS JWC University. The interior of Waku Waku is pretty simple and cozy with quirky mural drawing on the walls, just like this small table with single chair facing Mr. Obama, it’s the perfect chair to eat for our lonely single friends that need a companion (read: ‘jomblo’) isn’t it? 😉

For the music, you can help yourself by choosing your favorite music at the digital jukebox that has an up-to-date and comprehensive collection of music, you can even create your favorite playlist that makes you feel like home.

Besides digital jukebox, Waku Waku also equips its space with free wifi internet connection, Xbox game console, darts game, boardgames and even electrical plugs on each table. Now you can see why we declared this place as one of the coolest hangout spaces in Jakarta right?

Waku Waku has plenty of noodle dishes with modern twist such as noodle with calamari pesto, hamburg steak noodle, etc and this Teriyaki Noodle is one of the best selling noodle dishes.

The Teriyaki noodle is available in soup or dry/ fried version, AnakJajan had the dry version, the noodle was seasoned thoroughly with savory seasoning topped with flavorful teriyaki chicken and mushroom. This one was our favorite, a comfort savory noodle dish that we can never get bored of.

Corn Dog Mie (Noodle) IDR 24k
This one is also available in soup or dry/ fried version. The noodle is topped with a unique topping, corned beef mix with salted egg that has a savory and sweet flavor. For extra spicy kick, freshly chopped chili and ‘matah’ sambal (shallot chili sauce) are available as condiment.

Calamari Pesto Rice IDR 33k
For rice dish, Waku Waku’s best selling is Calamari Pesto Rice, rice topped with breaded deep fried calamari and drizzled with pesto sauce. It is a decent and filling dish to have.

Caramel Nuts Toast IDR 23k
Warm toast with caramel jam topped with roasted penuts and grated cheese. It was quite nice with sweet and savory flavor combination from the caramel jam and grated cheese plus crunchy texture from the peanuts.

Grilled Cheese-Corned IDR 23k
Besides sweet toast, you can also find savory version of toast just like this one with corned beef, mayonnaise, tomato & chili sauce and generous amount of grated cheese.

Chicken Wings Spicy Teriyaki (3pcs) IDR 15k
Deep fried breaded chicken wings coated with spicy teriyaki sauce with a lil bit of sweet and savory taste and medium level of spiciness. Simply fingers licking good!

Chicken Wings Garlic Parmesan (3pcs) IDR 15k
This one was my favorite, breaded chicken wings deep fried till golden and then coated with dry garlic parmesan seasoning, it was savory, cheesy and garlicky. Love it!

Overall, food was pretty good and satisfying with affordable price and cozy space, if you guys are in the area and need an option for hangout, Waku Waku could be a nice choice. Let’s Jajan!!
