Last month after having a busy and hectic work schedules, AnakJajan had a quick getaway to Bali to relax our minds. We stayed in Montigo Resorts, Seminyak, a relatively new lifestyle resort located in the heart of Seminyak, Bali, Indonesia.
AnakJajan stayed at Montigo Resorts, Seminyak on June 2016 during their soft opening period where Montigo Spa and Olo Kids Club will be available by the end of 2016.
The resort is located strategically in the heart of Seminyak at Petitenget street, conveniently surrounded by lots of shops in walking distance and Petitenget beach is located nearby around 5 minutes walk from Montigo Resorts, Seminyak. It feels like an oasis hidden inside the busy Seminyak area.
Montigo Resorts, Seminyak features modern contemporary design with shades of blue in the property and room to create a relaxing environtment. AnakJajan stayed at the Executive Suite, the resort was very thoughtful in preparing our room with welcome snacks, welcome note and they even printed our photos and put it in a frame 🙂
Our Executive Suite was really spacious with living room, bathroom with separate sinks, shower, bath up and luxurious Bvlgari bath amenities, also private patio. The room was very comfortable yet homey, bed was also really comfy we had a great quality of sleep and rest during our stay.
We spent our first night by having a romantic private in-suite BBQ at the Executive Suite Patio. For starter, AnakJajan had Sate Lilit, Balinese chicken skewer with Balinese ‘sambal matah’, it was one of the best Sate Lilit I’ve ever had, chicken was tender, perfectly seasoned and very aromatic. The next dish was Prawn Bisque with seafood dumpling, it was packed with sea flavors.
And then for main course, AnakJajan had Grilled Wagyu Beef with Tiger Prawn served with asparagus, mushroom, baked potato, red wine sauce and lemon butter sauce. Wagyu beef was grilled perfectly with pink centre (we asked for medium), the meat was tender, juicy, while the tiger prawn was really memorable, it was fresh and sweet with nice char-grilled aroma. To accompany our meal, we had Rocky Gully Riesling 2015 wine.
For sweet ending, the chef served Strawberry Panna Cotta with strawberry compote, the dessert tasted just as good as its look, we spent our first night with happy tummies.

Our second day started by having breakfast at TIIGO Restaurant, the breakfast is available from 7AM to 10.30 AM, where you can get salad, fruit, cereal, bread, etc from the buffet and also order a la carte western and traditional Balinese breakfast menu.

AnakJajan had Eggs Florentine, Turkish Poached Eggs and Nasi Jenggo. Nasi Jenggo is one of the chef’s recommendation, it is Balinese yellow turmeric rice dish served with various side dishes.

Personally, whenever we travel to bali, me and Mr. Jajan prefer to stay and relax at the hotel that’s why we always love to explore activities offered by hotel. In Montigo Resorts, Seminyak, you can be a chef for a day. AnakJajan had a cooking class with market tour conducted by the talented Chef Alit, we started the cooking class by visiting local market nearby to get the ingredients for our cooking class. Then under guidance of Chef Alit, we learned how to cook Lawar Kelungah, Ayam Betutu and Dadar Gulung, continued by having it as our lunch.
Ayam Betutu is the popular traditional Balinese steamed or roasted chicken dish, it is one of TIIGO Restaurant’s signature and recommended dishes. The chicken was extremely tender and juicy thanks to the slow cook process, it was seasoned nicely and rich in spices.

Dinner starts from 6pm at TIIGO Restaurant, after enjoying the sunset at Petitenget Beach, AnakJajan walked back to the resort to have dinner.
TIIGO Restaurant is famous for their sensational Bali Trio, Ayam Betutu, Bebek Goreng and Babi Guling, three of the dishes are famous Balinese dishes that you have to try while in Bali. Since we had the Ayam Betutu for lunch earlier, AnakJajan had their Bebek Goreng or Fried Duck and Babi Guling or Suckling Pig for dinner.
Bebek Goreng or Fried Duck was really huge and tender, it was served with a bowl of rice, lawar kelungah and three kinds of condiments, sambal matah, chili sauce and sambal bawang goreng (fried shallot chili condiment).

TIIGO Restaurant’s Babi Guling or Suckling Pig rice was definitely our most memorable meal, the suckling pig was very flavorful and full of spices, meat was extremely tender with generous portion while the skin was really crispy, it was served with our favorite sate lilit or minced chicken skewer with lemongrass and chili condiments.

To accompany our meal, we had refreshing cocktails from the bar, Mr. Jajan had Margarita while I had their unique and signature cocktail made from Balinese Kintamani orange.
The chef recommended TIIGO’s signature Chocolate Decadence to end our meal and it was definitely a great recommendation. Chocolate Decadence consists of 70% cocoa mass flourless dark chocolate cake, chocolate sauce, chocolate macaron, chocolate tuile and chocolate chantily creme, the dessert was rich and not overly sweet, we just couldn’t stop ourselves from finishing it eventhough we were full already.

Montigo Resorts, Seminyak did a great job in making our tummies happy as they serve great authentic Balinese cuisine in their TIIGO Restaurant, we had our cravings for Balinese cuisine satisfied.
Overall, AnakJajan had a great time staying and dining at Montigo Resorts, Seminyak, great location, comfy bed, spacious room with scrumptious selection of food, it is definitely one of a great getaway options in Bali. Thank you Montigo Resorts, Seminyak for the hospitality and making our trip memorable. Let’s travel!!
