Sharing a recommendation on where to eat in Bandung, Kenken Bigul Kitchen, a restaurant in Pasir Kaliki street, Bandung that is specializes in various pork dishes.
During our staycation trip to Bandung, AnakJajan needed a quick, simple, flavorful and satisfying meal for lunch before checking in to our hotel, so we decided to try Kenken Bigul Kitchen.
AnakJajan visited the restaurant during lunch time and it was packed with customers we had to sit on the second floor outdoor area, luckily the weather was nice and breezy. As I said earlier, the restaurant’s specialty is pork dishes, you can find plentiful rice dishes with Indonesian and Chinese flavors with pretty reasonable price. We ordered some menu that look like the best selling dishes based on the instagram posts from the customers.
Nasi Babi IDR 40k
Pork mixed rice consists of sunny side up egg, spam, deep fried pork belly, lapchiong or pork sausage, kekhian or pork cake and sauteed vegetables. It was a festive plate of rice with a lil bit of everything where all ingredients were complementing each other with savory and sweet flavors, love the way they cook sunny side up egg nicely.
Sate Samcan IDR 37.8k (4pcs)
The grilled pork belly skewers were tender and seasoned nicely, personally not a fan of this dish since it was soooo greasy and fatty with around 2/3 of fat than meat.
Nasi Bigul Special 40k
This dish is the signature dish so we have to order it. It is Balinese suckling pig mixed rice with suckling pig, crispy suckling pig skin, veggie, peanut, pork skin crackling, pork skewer or satay, rice and chili condiments.
Meat was tender and seasoned nicely, the crackling was crunchy and addictive, it was a decent yet satisfying plate of rice, the chili condiments were very spicy in a good way but sadly it was served in a very stingy portion.
Overall, if you’re a big fan of pork dishes, KenKen Bigul could be a nice option for lunch or dinner, the food was decent and satisfying with reasonable price. Let’s Jajan!!
