Kura Zushi 無添くら寿司 is one of the popular Kaiten or Conveyor Belt (train) sushi restaurants available widely in Japan such as in Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, etc that offers wide variety of sushi creations with one price for all menu, yup ONLY 100YEN for each plate!
Does anyone agree with me? that a visit to Japan won’t be complete without having sushi and experiencing their Kaiten or conveyor belt sushi? 🙂
Our visit to Kura Zushi was actually a spontaneous visit. Mr. Jajan suddenly told me that he was craving for sushi and when I checked for recommendation on google and foursquare, we found this interesting and popular place.
Kura Zushi has the most outlets in Osaka around 57 outlets in Sumiyoshi, Tengachaya, Namba, etc. In Tokyo, there are around 29 outlets of Kura Zushi such as in Ikebukuro, Minami-Senju, Shinagawa, etc. The outlet AnakJajan visited is Tenjinbashi-suji, Osaka outlet located near Tenjinbasisuji shopping street (the longest shopping street in Japan), it is located on the second floor, on the first floor is Lawson convenient store.
Kura Zushi – Tenjinbashi-suji outlet is very spacious and it wasn’t too crowded during our visit since it wasn’t dinner time yet (around 4pm) but the queue can be very long during lunch or dinner time.
Once we were seated, AnakJajan requested English menu, the waiter/ waitress will provide you sheets of information in English.
HOW TO ORDER??
Basically there are two ways to order:
1. Take the sushi of your choice from conveyor belt
or
2. Order sushi from touch panel.
After eating the sushi, you can put the plate into the bin provided and the system will automatically count the number of plate that you’ve eaten and put it into the billing system.
If you got lucky like us, you can get jackpot when you put the empty plates into the bin. We got a cute Ebi Sushi shaped eraser.

Each plate of sushi costs JPY 100 or around IDR 12k, Me and Mr. Jajan almost went crazy and wanna try everything. The variety of menu in Kura Zushi is very extensive such as sushi with fresh cut of fish, tamago or egg, beef, etc, from nigiri, gunkan, maki (roll sushi), temaki (hand roll sushi) to dessert such as mochi, ice cream, sweet potato, etc.

Even though it’s cheap, you don’t have to worry because the proportion between sushi rice and topping is normal, as you can see from our pictures the topping of sushi is very generous. All of the sushi AnakJajan tried were tasty, raw fish sushi might not be spectacular but it was fresh and good enough, but the most memorable ones were aburi beef sushi and aburi pork with cheese sushi, it was unique and delightful with amazing torch-grill aroma.
AnakJajan had 17 plates of sushi, the cost was JPY 100 x 17 = JPY 1.700 plus 8% of tax with total JPY 1.836 or IDR 236k, crazy affordable right?!! AnakJajan got to say that the price is incredibly affordable and great value for money considering the quality, portion and taste of the sushi. Definitely a must visit for sushi lovers!! Let’s Jajan!!
