Sushi game in Jakarta has become even stronger with the opening of Kintaro Sushi Jakarta in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area. The new sushi restaurant is located next to Cake A Boo cake shop, you can spot the restaurant from the catchy design of wooden storefront.
The food concept in Kintaro Sushi is modern fusion Japanese cuisine and the menu are franchised from renowned chef from Osaka, Japan where the chef trained the team and assisted Kintaro Sushi during the menu creating process with over 300 dishes available such as appetizer, agemono, salad, sashimi, nigiri, gunkan, hana, sushi roll, donburi, soup, noodle, etc. Well, that’s a lot!!
With the play on colors and patterns, Kintaro has a cheerful atmosphere with the combination of both modern and traditional touch of Japanese concept. At the front area, there’s sushi bar where you can see the chefs in action making sushi, the display of colorful ingredients are also interesting to see, it’s used for their DIY or do-it-yourself Sushi or Pokebowl menu where everyone can choose their own favorite items to be combined into one dish. Ok, let’s take a closer look at some of the signature dishes that AnakJajan have tried.
Salmon Sashimi IDR 45k (3pcs)
For starter, we had the classic one, Salmon Sashimi, it was fresh and enjoyable just the way we expected.
Tempura Moriawase (Mix) IDR 75k
Hotstone Chirashi IDR 120k
Major love for this unique chirashi don served on hot stone bowl with festive toppings like; spicy tuna, tamago, kani mayo, nori flakes, etc. We just love the sizzle effect from the hot stone resulting a nice rice crust on the bottom.
Maze Chirashi IDR 130k
If you prefer the classic chirashi don with fresh ingredients, you can try Maze Chirashi with generous and colorful ingredients that combined nicely.
Kintaro Gyu Kushi Katsu IDR 180k
FINALLY the populer gyukatsu or beef cutlet dish from Japan is available in Jakarta. Using dry aged beef, they breaded and deep fried the beef with medium rare level and then served it with mini stone grill on the table along with 3 condiments; soy, garlic (if I’m not mistaken), katsu sauce, and also goma sauce for the cabbage.
The best way to enjoy gyukatsu is simply by dipping the beef into sauce, and then grill it on mini stone grill for around 3 seconds on each side.
Aburi Moriawase IDR 95k
You can find endless options of a la carte sushi dishes here but the sushi set like this one, Aburi Moriawase is simply just too cute to be missed. The lightly torch-grilled nigiri sushi set consist of Salmon Aburi, Tamago Aburi, Gyu Aburi, Unagi Aburi, Tuna Aburi, and Salmon Belly Aburi.
Emperor Bento IDR 295k
The Osaka Castle-shaped bento box has 3 layers where they put Mosaic Chirashi, Kintaro Gyudon, and Unagi Tempura Don, on the side they also serve Miso Soup and Salad. This unique looking bento presentation just brings back the memories of Japan, it reminds us of all the nicely arranged lunch box we had in Japan. It’s a great set of dish for sharing where you can get a bit of everything in one set.
Kintaro Gyudon IDR 95k
One of our favorite dishes in Kintaro is their signature gyudon or beef bowl with A4 Wagyu Beef, onsen egg and truffle oil. The beef is undoubtedly good, sooo tender it melts in the mouth easily and complemented perfectly with delightful truffle aroma. YUM!!
Dragon Roll IDR 110k (8pcs)// Spider Roll IDR 100k (8pcs) // Kintaro Roll IDR 120k (8pcs)
Excuse me!! Shinkansen sushi train is coming through!! 😀
If you order 3 types of roll sushi, you can get Shinkansen sushi train. Basically you can combine any sushi roll that you like, as long as you get 3 types, you can get it served on Shinkansen platter.
Volcano Roll IDR 90k (8pcs)
One of the reason why we love it is the balanced amount of seasoning, normally when you order volcano roll at other place you will get deep fried sushi roll overly drizzled with mayo resulting overly creamy after taste, but the Volcano Roll in Kintaro is just nice, deep fried till crunchy but not greasy and then drizlled with just the right amount of sauce.
Bomb Roll IDR 95k (8pcs)
Build Your Own Menu – Poke Bowl IDR 80k
Last but not least, the do-it-your-self Sushi or Poke Bowl, for Pokebowl you can choose 3 Standard Toppings, 1 Premium Topping, 1 Crunch, and 1 Sauce that suit your palate, each pokebowl has already including Tanuki, Edamame, and Nori Flakes. As for Sushi Roll, you can choose 3 Standard Toppings, 1 Crunch, and 1 Sauce for IDR 55k.
It’s fun to have the freedom to choose any ingredients that we like to be combined into one dish.
Overall, as you can see from pictures above, AnakJajan got to say that Kintaro Sushi certainly brings the sushi game into the new level with their unique and instagrammable presentation. With over 300 menu, customers certainly will not run out of options.
