Tea is something that is commonly consumed on daily basis, but unlike the coffee scene that has been evolving very well, the tea scene in Indonesia especially Jakarta has not changed that much these past years, that’s why AnakJajan were thrilled to share with you all about this relatively new place in PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) area called Chatelier, a tea atelier, a place for tea appreciation.
The atelier offers a venue where tea lovers can gather together to experience the finest tea leaves nature can provide, all of the tea in Chatelier are organic including those tea grown in the wild and free from harmful chemicals.
Serving wide variety of tea from classic to exotic selection, all of the tea product are served according to precise standards to bring out the most pleasant flavors. The atalier is located in Pantai Indah Kapuk area, you can simply spot the huge signage in front of the shop, if you get lucky you can meet the Tea Master there and get a special private session in the special tea table where the tea master serves the tea directly in front of you.
Lucky us, during AnakJajan’s visit, the Tea Master was there and shared so many interesting stories about tea, AnakJajan got a lot of knowledge about tea. Since there are so many tea selection as well as food selection that you can choose, we suggest you to ask the waiters for the best option that would suit you the best.
Camellia Queen (Black Tea) IDR 48k, Wild Honey (White Tea) IDR 68k, The Imperial Gyokuro (Green Tea) IDR 78k, Chamomile (Flower Tea) IDR 38k, The Legendary Oolong (Oolong Tea) IDR 58k, Golden Pu-erh (Raw Pu-erh) IDR 68k, Golden Empress(Ripe Pu-erh) IDR 58k
AnakJajan had the chance to taste a few selection of their tea and we got to say that Wild Honey Tea (white tea) is our most favorite one, it is a kind of wild tea that somehow has a sweet taste and aroma like honey even though it doesn’t contain honey at all, we find it very interesting and exotic.
For green tea category, the Imperial Gyokuro stands out the most, it has an interesting umami taste, typical natural taste produced by high quality of green tea. The taste is certainly unique and very suitable for Japanese food such as Ochasuke. Other than that, the famous Pu Erh tea is also nice to try.
Quinoa Salad IDR 68k
Other than tea, Chatelier also serves several dishes that can be paired nicely with their tea such as this Quinoa Salad, it’s best paired with White Tea. The salad consists of fresh greens, quinoa, almond and balsamic honey, fresh and enjoyable!
Gyu Teriyaki Don IDR 68k
Best paired with Green Tea, the rice bowl with warm fluffy rice, gyu/beef, soft boiled egg and bold rich teriyaki sauce is served in generous portion, wish the beef to have thinner cut, but it’s still enjoyable nevertheless.
Lava Salmon Skin IDR 48k
Two words, YUMMY & ADDICTIVE!! The salmon skin at Chatelier is certainly one of the best in town. Thin and super crispy complemented perfectly with salted egg yolk sauce that has nice umami taste and nice level of spiciness. You gotta pair it with Black Tea.
Hokkien Mee Sua IDR 78k
Great dish to enjoy with Ripe Pu-Erh, simple yet savory Mee Sua with pork belly.
Cendol Cake IDR 55k , Gorilla Cake (Banana) IDR 55k, Stoned Cake (Hazelnut) IDR 55k
For cake selection, they have Gorilla cake with the combination of banana and chocolate, Stoned Cake or hazelnut cake, and our favorite Cendol Cake with classic taste of cendol and brown sugar/gula malaka. All of the cakes were very enjoyable, and it simply goes well with a cup of tea.
Overall, AnakJajan just realized that there are so many interesting variety and flavor of tea to explore there’s no enough word to describe it, you should try and enjoy it by yourself. not to mention the great benefit for our bodies. We can tell Chatelier is taking their tea seriously, it’s surely an interesting place to explore your love for tea.
