Combining authentic Italian cuisine with Japanese twist, AWkitchen by chef Akira Watanabe has been one of our favorite restaurants in Jakarta for pasta. After Plaza Indonesia and Plaza Senayan, AWkitchen has opened their third outlet in PIK Avenue mall with new concept named Pasta Marche AWkitchen by Akira Watanabe.
As the name suggests, pasta dishes are their signature items, from Japanese Italian to classic Italian, they have it all here. Recently they introduced new Artisan Pasta menu where they made the pasta fresh everyday. Well that’s just a good news for me personally, since fresh homemade pasta is my soft spot.
Kinoko Salad IDR 68k
For starter, AnakJajan had one of their signature items from Cold Appetizer section. It’s a fresh mixed vegetables salad with 3 types of mushroom; champignon, king oyster, and shimeji mushroom. The grated daikon shoyu sauce adds a nice fresh touch which is just perfect to stimulate the appetite.
Arancini Tomato Mozarella IDR 55k
From Hot Appetizer section, we got Arancini Tomato Mozarella or deep fried stuffed rice balls. AnakJajan would say that the use of tomato sauce is just clever twist to balance the deep fried rice balls.
Beef Agnoloti with Butter Cheese Sauce IDR 95k
We instantly fell in love with this dish. The homemade agnoloti looks like a mini dumpling, it’s filled with minced beef in buttery cheese sauce. It looks very simple but the taste is just gorgeous with juicy beef filling.
Maltagliati Fish Ragout IDR 118k
Classic tomato based fish ragout cooked in traditional thin strips pasta. The texture of homemade pasta just won me over with beautifully silky yet springy sensation.
Maltagliati with Chicken Tomato Sauce IDR 80k
The thin strips pasta is cooked in tomato based sauce and served with tender chicken slices. It’s a nice option for people who loves tomato based pasta.
Pappardelle with Crispy Pork Belly IDR 110k
A unique combo that I adore, homemade broad flat pasta noodle with crispy pork belly in savory garlicky pepperoncino style. You can totally tell that the pasta is fresh and nicely executed just by the texture. Yum!
Pappardelle Boscaiola IDR 98k
For this one, they use tuna and assorted Japanese mushroom. It’s still tomato based but the taste is just different compared to other since it has hint of rosemary.
Black Angus Sirloin IDR 228k
Aside from pasta, AWkitchen also serves other main dishes for example Black Angus steak. It’s served with sauteed vegetables, mix salad, and mashed potato with hint of truffle oil in it. There are three sauce options; porcini sauce, Japanese sauce, wasabi pepper sauce that pack a big punch! For us personally the Japanese sauce is our most favorite with hint of caramelized onion and subtle sweet taste.
Houjicha Pannacotta with kuromitsu IDR 60k
Well, pasta game in AWkitchen is seriously strong, AnakJajan can easily give AWkitchen’s Artisan Pasta two thumbs up. The texture of fresh homemade pasta is just irresistible and different in a good way.
