ORIENT WU – Muara Karang, Jakarta

Less than a month to Chinese New Year, here’s a new Chinese Food & Dimsum restaurant recommendation in Pluit – Muara Karang area, newly opened ORIENT WU.

Previously known as Oriental Garden House, the owner has revamped the restaurant with newer and more modern concept. It’s located near Riverside Apartment.

Upon entering, AnakJajan can see the nice mix of modern and traditional touch in the interior with mural drawings and traditional Chinese ornaments.

For the menu, the restaurant serves great range of classic Chinese dishes from chicken, beef, pork, seafood, rice, noodle, vegetables, etc as well as dimsum.

The dimsum is quite affordable ranging from IDR 23k to IDR 35k from steamed to deep fried ones.

Siomay Plum Emas IDR 28.5k
Orient Wu has plenty of classic dimsum menu but we opted for something more unique for example this one. Siomay with plum sauce. The siomay was very meaty and juicy with thin elastic skin, it was steamed together with plum sauce for sweet and sour flavor kick.

Bakpao Jamur IDR 25.5k, Bakpao Telor Asin IDR 28.6k, Bakpao Taosa IDR 25.5k, Bakpao Taro IDR 25.5k, Bakpao Babi Merah IDR 29.7k, Bakpao Babi Kecap IDR 29.7k, Onde Tausa Dua Warna IDR 25.5k
The steamed and deep fried buns creations here are quite eye catching with unique shapes and colors such as chicken, apple, mushroom, bear, etc.

The bun texture was nice, fluffy and light. AnakJajan personally love the Mushroom Bun the most with savory mushroom filling inside.

Ubi Wortel IDR 22k
This might be the most confusing creation but it happens to be our most favorite one. Deep fried dimsum made from sweet potato filled with corn cheese but shaped like carrot hahaha 😀
But it tastes amazing actually!! The dough has nice chewy texture in it with nice sweet potato aroma, paired perfectly with creamy corn cheese filling. Must order!!

Sapi Cakwe IDR 94.6k
AnakJajan were being told that this is their most recommended dish, of course we wouldn’t miss the chance to try it. It’s actually sliced beef sauteed in special sauce with dough fritter/ cakwe. First impression would be the bold flavor, it was packed with rich sweet and salty flavor making it a great companion for rice. The beef was so soooooo tender, in each bite you’ll get a nice contrast of texture from crunchy cakwe, YUM!!

Ikan Gurame Saus Mangga IDR 139k
Deep fried gurame fish with sweet and sour mango sauce.

Babi Leci Asam Manis IDR 68.2k
As the name suggests, deep fried pork cooked in sweet and sour lychee sauce. It was tasteful with just the right level of sweetness and sourness. The use of lychee is clever, it gives the dish a nice fresh kick.

Tahu Samcan Crispy IDR 56k
Deep fried crispy pork belly served on top of homemade tofu and thick gravy sauce. It’s one of our favs. Love the smooth soft texture from homemade tofu, the deep fried pork belly was also well seasoned and not chewy.

Sapi Lada Hitam IDR 96k
Classic black pepper beef dish, it has all the good elements we expected. Tender beef, rich and bold savory black pepper sauce with subtle sweet umami in it.

Ayam Goreng Garing IDR 82k (M), IDR155k (L)
Another signature dish would be their Crispy Fried Chicken. So basically they deep fried the whole chicken until golden crispy on the outside. Personally would prefer the chicken to be more savory but it’s still enjoyable especially when we dip the chicken into the tangy hoisin-based sauce.

Ayam Goreng Garing IDR 82k (M), IDR155k (L)

Telur Goreng Caipo IDR 25k
Classic simple dish like this simply never fails to satisfy. Savory omelette with sweet salty preserved radish for extra texture and flavor.

Overall, AnakJajan had a pleasant eating experience at Orient Wu. All the dishes were surprisingly well made and well seasoned with great variety, not to mention the cute dimsum. It can be a great place for the upcoming CNY lunch/ dinner.
