SHAKE SHACK BURGER – The Dubai Mall

After hearing the rave reviews about Shake Shack on social media and getting excited about it. AnakJajan finally got the chance to try it.

In case if you are wondering, the reason behind my trip to Dubai is to be part of research team to help a multinational retail franchise company The Alshaya to review 4 restaurants and answer a few questions such as ‘ will it work if they open these brands in Indonesia?’, ‘what should they bring or change to fit the market in Indonesia?’. And the 4 brands are IHOP, P.F. Chang’s, Texas Roadhouse including Shake Shack.

Shake Shack is a very popular fast casual restaurant chain originated from New York. They are famous for their burger and milkshake menu, here in Shake Shack the beef patty is 100% all-natural Angus beef and cooked well unless otherwise requested.

AnakJajan visited Shake Shack at The Dubai Mall the largest shopping mall in the world, the interior is very casual with mix of wooden brown and lime green furniture and here in Shake Shack they have self-service concept where you have to order at the cashier and pick up your own food & condiments.

Cheese Fries AED 20 // High-Heat Fries
I love the fact that they use this kind of potato with 40% less fat but on the other side it didn’t taste as addictive as other fries out there. Besides the savoury cheese fries, they have new spicy version with addition of cherry pepper on top. The cherry pepper was unique but way to sour for my liking.

Shack Burger AED 26 Single/ AED 42 Double
After the first bite, now I know why people rave about Shake Shack because it is SO SOOO GOOD!! The bun they use is very special, it is actually a potato bun with soft fluffy texture and slightly sweet taste. While for the patty itself was juicy, tender and flavourful. For Shack Burger, it consists of cheese burger with addition of lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce.

Shack Meister AED 32 Single/ AED 48 Double
This menu consists of cheese burger with crispy marinated shallot and ShackSauce. The shallot was very interesting and it gave the burger a very nice crunchy texture and fragrant shallot aroma. A taste that Indonesian will totally enjoy.

Smoke Shack AED 38 Single/ AED 54 Double
Cheese burger with hickory smoked veal bacon and spicy chopped cherry pepper. Love the heat and tanginess from the cherry pepper.

Shroom Burger AED 26
Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would love vegetarian burger but this Shroom Burger was exceptional! The juicy crispy fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese filling was so good I almost forgot about beef burger. Actually there is this menu called Shack Stack AED 42 consists of beef cheese burger and shroom burger combined together I will definitely order this one next time.

Cheddar Shack AED 45 Single/ AED 65 Double
Custom blend angus beef patty topped with double smoked veal bacon and cheese sauce. This one is the new and limited edition menu with interesting yet delicious cheddar & American cheese sauce as they use aged cheddar cheese to make the sauce.

Shack-cago Hot Dog AED 25
A festive hotdog indeed with 8 different ingredients, Viennna all-beef hot dog with relish, onion, cucumber, pickle, tomato, pepper, celery salt and mustard. My least favourite menu because the pickles were extremely too sour and overpowering I didn’t enjoy it.

Smoke Dog
New and limited edition hot dog menu with spicy cherry pepper, it was decent and not bad but not a menu that I would crave for.

Dubai Malt // Red Velvet // Vanilla Toffee Twirl – Concretes Frozen Custard AED 24 Single/ AED 36 Double
The frozen custard ice cream has a dense texture. AnakJajan tasted three flavours and all of them were sinful but in a good way, very rich yet creamy but perfect sweetness level. My number one favourite would be the Dubai Malt with crunchy truffle cookie dough and vanilla chocolate flavour, the red velvet also beyond my expectation as it looks as good as its look with soft and moist red velvet cake topping. On the other side vanilla toffee twirl was my least favourite because besides vanilla there was no caramel flavour at all.

Chocolate // Strawberry Shakes AED 25
I’m not a fan of milky creamy milkshake but this one has got me hooked. Their shakes were very enjoyable and delicious it has a perfect balance of creaminess and sweetness, will try the peanut butter flavor next time as my friends love it so much.

Overall, I’m very positive that the opening of Shake Shack could be a huge hit as lot’s of Indonesian are already familiar and excited with the brand itself, also there are no any burger place with this kind of quality yet in Indonesia. It’s so far one of the best burgers I’ve ever had!
