DOTONBORI FOODTOWN – PIK AVENUE MALL, Pantai Indah Kapuk

Attention Japanese food lovers!! There’s new and exciting addition in town, Dotonbori Foodtown, a new food centre or food court in PIK Avenue Mall, Pantai Indah Kapuk with all Japanese food tenants from sweet to savory, light bites to heavy meal. Let’s take a tour around Dotonbori Foodtown shall we??

Japanese food never fails to excite me, that’s why I’m pretty excited with this new addition in PIK Avenue Mall. The foodtown has a really spacious space with modern decor and plenty of natural light resulting cozy vibes.

In total there will be approximately 27 tenants in Dotonbori Foodtown serving Japanese cuisine from appetizer, main course, snack, dessert and drinks giving the visitors lots of choices. Surrounded by all Japanese food makes me feel like in Japan. AnakJajan are going to share with you closer look at some of the tenants in Dotonbori Foodtown that we have tried.

Shigeru Japanese Fresh Deli
One of the most popular and biggest tenants in Dotonbori Foodtown is Shigeru Japanese Fresh Deli that offers plentiful options of Japanese food, Sushi Set, Surimi, Tempura, Kushi Katsu, Takoyaki, Karaage, Bento, Donburi and Robatayaki.

The food display is very tempting with all the choices, I almost want to get everything!! For Robatayaki, AnakJajan had Salmon Steak IDR 20k, Negima Skewer IDR 9k, Salmon Sausage IDR 12k and Torini Skewer IDR 9k, all were glazed nicely with savory and sweet robatayaki sauce and then grilled.

Ebi Furai IDR 9k, Cheese Dumpling IDR 8k, Salmon Ball IDR 8k, Shrimp Bomb IDR 8k, and Sweet Fish Ball IDR 8k

Then from Kushi Katsu, Tempura and Surimi area, we had Ebi Furai IDR 9k, Cheese Dumpling IDR 8k, Salmon Ball IDR 8k, Shrimp Bomb IDR 8k, and Sweet Fish Ball IDR 8k. The Cheese Dumpling is highly recommended, bouncy fish balls filled with creamy cheese filling in the middle.

Takoyaki IDR 22k is available in Cheese and Spicy version, each box consists of 8 pieces. In Sushi Set area, you can find small, medium till big portion of sushi box. AnakJajan had Sushi Mix IDR 50k with 10 pieces of assorted sushi, Hanamaki IDR 30k and Sushi Salmon IDR 36k for 6 pieces of fresh salmon sushi, those are seriously affordable! Eating utensil and condiments are available for purchase, IDR 1k for chopstick or spoon and fork, IDR 2k for Kikkoman soy sauce, IDR 2.5k for wasabi, IDR for Gari, etc.

Pojok Minuman
To complete all the tenants in Dotonbori Foodtown, Pojok Minuman is in charge of providing drink for visitors. AnakJajan ordered refreshing Mango Peach Sjora IDR 14k and Blackcurrant Nestle IDR 10k to quench our thirst.

Taiyaki Patisserie
For light bites, AnakJajan opted for something crunchy, the addictive Taiyaki from Taiyaki Patisserie. The crispy flaky buttery pastry is available in 11 options, plain IDR 15k or with filling/ topping sweet or savory IDR 25k.

AnakJajan had a box of 6 pieces wrapped nicely in this uber cute box, we had 3 sweet and 3 savory. Peanut Butter and Jam, Salted Caramel and Cinnamon Sugar for sweet version, then Chicken Bolognaise, Pizza and Chicken Teriyaki for savory version.

Pepper Lunch Express
A brand who needs no introduction anymore, Pepper Lunch! Yes, one of the popular chains originated from Japan that everyone loves is also available in Dotonbori Foodtown, so you can get their signature dishes easily here such as Striploin Pepper Steak IDR 122.7k and Teriyaki Double Salmon IDR 97.2k.

Nakayosi
Operated by Nakajima Suisan, Nakayoshi offers authentic Japanese Sushi and Sashimi in various serving options.

One of the highly recommended items is 10 slices of Salmon Sashimi in a box for IDR 59k ONLY!! If you want try a bit of everything, Sushi Set J IDR 59k could be a nice option since you can get 21 pieces of assorted nigiri sushi and maki or roll sushi with different toppings. Such a great deal isn’t it??

One of the unique things in Nakayosi is the single sushi, you can assemble your own sushi set as many as you want, even 1 piece is also possible with Single Sushi IDR 3k or IDR 6k. It’s available with fresh raw ingredients or cooked ingredients, AnakJajan picked Tamago IDR 3k, Salmon IDR 6k, Tobikko IDR 3k, Chuka Wakame IDR 3k, Maki IDR 3k, Ebi IDR 6k Maki and Tobikko Orange & Black IDR 6k. Same as Shigeru, in Nakayoshi, eating utensil and condiments are available for purchase.

Donburi Ichiya
AnakJajan are happy with the presence of Donburi Ichiya in Dotonbori Foodtown. It’s a great option for affordable and satisfying Japanese comfort food.

Donburi Ichiya offers various rice bowl dishes with different toppings such as Gyu-tan Don IDR 65.4k (reg), Unagi Don IDR 65.4k (reg), Gyu Don IDR 49k (reg), Yakitori Don IDR 40.9k (reg), etc.

Hanako Sushi Bar
Another option for sushi lovers, Hanako Sushi Bar offers freshly made by order sushi dishes with wide selection of sushi creations.

The signature sushi creations are more likely to modern fusion sushi, AnakJajan had Dynamite Roll IDR 56k filled with soft shell crab, cucumber, avocado and tobiko topped with spicy tuna, then one of the best selling items Salmon Supreme IDR 69k with spicy crunchy salmon topped with aburi salmon, tobiko and hanako sweet sauce. Both fusion sushi dishes were nicely executed, great combination of flavor and texture, it was very enjoyable. We also had the classic Tobiko Sushi IDR 22k.

Koiyaki
One of the tenants that caught my eyes the most is Koiyaki specializes in Japanese soft cream. Since I’m a big fan of soft serve ice cream, I simply have to get it 😀

The soft serve ice cream is available in 3 versions, Taiyaki, Cup Parfait or Cone. AnakJajan choose Matcha Green Tea Taiyaki IDR 33k with Cat Tongue Butter Cookie, Japanese Rice Puff, Caramel Popcorn and Greentea Glico Pocky. For cone ice cream, the normal cone ice cream costs IDR 18k, but AnakJajan ordered the Combo IDR 25k with Hokkaido Milk and Matcha flavors. The ice cream was smooth, quite enjoyable and not overly sweet.

Out of these tenants, there are still many other interesting tenants to explore. Overall, great variety, affordable price, cozy spacious area, AnakJajan must say that Dotonbori Foodtown is a great culinary destination to explore all yummy and interesting Japanese food. Let’s Jajan!!
