Serving gigantic seafood platter, Wai Po Jia in Mangga Besar has caught our attention for a while.
Fyi, despite the same restaurant name, AnakJajan think Wai Po Jia Mangga Besar is not related to Wai Po Jia Shanghai. So, Wai Po Jia Mangga Besar is totally different restaurant, not a branch from Shanghai.

The Chinese food restaurant serves Szechuan style dishes, we can see some similarity with Lac Mei Che from their menu.
King Seafood Platter (Medium) IDR 980k
The King Seafood Plater comes in various sizes, AnakJajan chose Medium size for 5-7 person. It comes in various seafood such as shrimp, clam, oyster, crayfish, squid, crab, and other type of shrimp our friends called it “udang ronggeng”. We highly recommend you to make reservation at least 2 days before, just to make sure the menu is available.

Presentation wise, AnakJajan gotta give the dish double thumbs up, as all the seafood were arranged neatly. Underneath the seafood, there’s generous amount of beansprout with a bit of gravy.

The seasoning turned out to be quite weak, savory but not spicy despite the dried chili topping and. It was a bit disappointing since we expect the seasoning to be bolder with more mala taste. However in terms of freshness, all the seafood were fresh and sweet, we enjoyed the seafood.
Bakso Babi Goreng IDR 98k
Deep fried pork meatballs were very meaty served with spice salt. Mr. Jajan enjoyed it very much.

Suikiaw Babi Sawi Putih IDR 36k
Their steamed pork dumplings were below our expectation. Thick skin with mediocre pork filling. We didn’t enjoy it, there will be no second time. So far the dumplings from Jinmu are still our top favorite.
Ikan Nila BBQ IDR 168k
This fish surprisingly turned out to be our top favorite. The fish was deep fried served on spicy gravy with beansprout, potato and topped with crushed peanut.

Even though it looks spicy with the dried chili and red color, it wasn’t too spicy at all, savory with subtle spicy kick and very flavorful. If only the seafood platter uses this seasoning, it would be more delicious.

Overall the seafood platter was under our expectation, it was fresh and enjoyable but not memorable. We’re curious with their other dishes though, maybe gonna try it on next visit.
