Located in Retail Arcade Apartemen Pavilion, near Sudirman area, Harum Manis restaurant is seriously a gem for authentic Indonesian food.

Welcomed by large wooden door similar to those used in Keraton Jogjakarta, the interior is such a feast for the eyes with elegant warm homey dining room vibes.
AnakJajan love the fact that the restaurant plays traditional Indonesian songs, somehow it gave us nice holiday mood.

As the name suggests, Harum Manis serves wide range of authentic Indonesian food, here are some of the signature or chef recommended dishes that we tried:
Ikan Bakar Sakura Saus Dabu-dabu IDR 95k/ ounce
char-grilled Japanese silver fish pomfret with dabu-dabu sauce
All the grilled dishes at Harum Manis are really good since they use traditional char grill. The grilled fish was cooked to perfection, very meaty, soft and perfectly seasoned with nice char-grilled aroma. The use of dabu-dabu sauce gave the dish a nice tangy fresh kick, so good we couldn’t ask for more.

Sop Buntut Kutho Gede IDR 240k
braised center cut oxtail in clear vegetable broth, fried shallot, and melinjo crackers
My kind of comfort food, very tasteful, I ended up having more than half portion and left Mr. Jajan with just a bit of oxtail and soup. The savory broth was really comforting, packed with umami and nice aroma from fried shallot. Oxtail itself was superb, tender and fall off the bone easily.

Sate Satu Meter IDR 625k
assorted grilled skewers over coconut charcoal
First impression, WOW!! One meter long of meat skewers with 10 types of different skewers (3 pcs each), all of them were impressively delicious!!
Sate Satu Meter IDR 625k

We were wowed both by the presentation and the taste, juicy tender meat with scrumptious seasoning and amazing smoky scent from grilling process using coconut charcoal. Served with peanut sauce and sweet soy sauce, if we have to choose, their Sate Lilit, Sate Padang and Sapi Wagyu are our top favorites.
Ayam Bakar Bangsawan IDR 205k
slowly braised and char-grilled free-range chicken, fresh vegetables and special paradise sauce
Grilled chicken might be an ordinary dish that can be found anywhere but Harum Manis manages to make an outstanding one. The char-grill scent seep into the chicken nicely resulting nice smoky aroma, thank to the slow braised process, all the good flavors were fully marinated into the chicken, savory and sweet, so good you just have to give it a try.

Kambing Bakar Bengawan Solo IDR 285k
marinated and char-grilled Australian lamb shank in Central Javanese style served with crispy sweet potatos and colo-colo sauce
Mr. Jajan are not a fan lamb this, but he enjoyed this dish happily. I think that’s enough proof to explain how good it is. Fully marinated, the lamb shank was really tender without any unpleasant smell at all, best with sweet colo-colo sauce and squeeze of lime juice for tangy fresh kick.

Udang Bakar Banjarmasin IDR 255k/ piece
char-grilled palm tiger prawn from East Kalimantan with homemade special sweet soya sauce
The grilled prawns were really huge with thick meat and just the right seasoning without overpowering the natural taste of prawn. Dip it with a bit of sweet soya sauce for nice sweet flavor kick.

Wedang Ronde IDR 40k, Es Ketimun Lidah Buaya IDR 65k, Bir Pletok Dingin IDR 50k

Colenak Nyi Iteung IDR 75k
grilled sweet cassava roots, buttermilk sauce, banana, and shredded young coconut, palm sugar syrup, candied jackfruit
For nice sweet ending, we had this pretty traditional dessert. It was palatable and sweet with great texture combination from all the ingredients.

Overall, honestly all the food we had in Harum Manis were either good or really good! It was impressively delicious. Price might be more on the high side, but considering the generous portion, the taste and the quality of ingredients, AnakJajan gotta say that it’s worth it not to mention the homey and traditional Indonesian vibes.
