Hello Autumn!! Crisp air, pretty leaves, sweaters and boots. Fall or autumn is indeed one of our favorite seasons with the colorful leaves that warm our souls. In this post, AnakJajan are going to show you some of the best places to visit in Seoul, South Korea during autumn season to help you plan your itinerary for autumn holiday.
Last year on the second week of November 2015, AnakJajan had an awesome #AnakJajanKOREA autumn holiday. Within a week, we explored Seoul and also Nami Island and we were lucky to be able to visit Seoul during its peak autumn foliage season.
Every corner of the city was just simply magical and beautiful with its scenic colorful leaves, green, yellow, orange yet red in one tree resulting a very warm and romantic vibes.
CLIMATE
In overall, South Korea has four seasons, Spring in April to May, Summer in the middle of the year, Autumn in September to November and Winter from November/ December until March.
Autumn season from September to November is definitely one of the best seasons to visit Korea with its sunny weather and spectacular colorful foliage.
Our visit to Seoul on the second week of November 2015 luckily was the peak season of autumn, the weather was very cold for me personally. It was almost as cold as our winter trip to Japan on new year 2014-2015.
It was around 2°C until 15°C with light rain occurred and Seoul is just as windy as Tokyo, lucky us we were prepared with warm outfits such as thick autumn coat, scarf, warm heattech inner, umbrella, etc. AnakJajan highly recommend you to check the weather forecast before going in order to prepare a proper outfit.
Okay, here are some places in Seoul AnakJajan visited that have a beautiful and instagram worthy colorful autumn trees.
EWHA WOMAN UNIVERSITY
Ewha University was our first destination. The area around university is full of budget friendly street food, cafes, restaurants, shops and stores with beautiful trees lined on the street.
Designed with large green space, on autumn as you can see from the pictures below, the campus is surrounded by pretty natural landscape with mix of yellow, red, orange and green colors. This place is just too awesome to pass up.
Subway Direction:
Take Line 2 to Ewha Womans University Station
GAROSU-GIL, GANGNAM
Garosu-gil is one of the high end shopping destinations in Gangnam area. Filled with many luxury and trendy boutiques, shops and restaurants including the must visit LINE FRIENDS store and cafe. The tree-lined street is also pretty picturesque in autumn with the yellow ginkgo trees.
Subway Direction:
Take exit no.8 at Sinsa station, walk straight and turn left after you pass Tous Les Jours Bakery.
NAMSAN PARK & N SEOUL TOWER
Known as a beautiful walking trails, Namsan Park is the largest park in Seoul with many species of trees, plants, and animals making it a great spot to enjoy autumn. The popular tourist spot N Seoul Tower is also a great place to enjoy autumn scenery in Seoul from the top observatory with its mountain surroundings (Namsan Mountain).
Both places weren’t in our itinerary but since our accommodation was located near Namsan Park, we just couldn’t resist the temptation to walk to the area near the park to take some pictures with the lush green trees.
Subway Direction to Namsan Park:
Take Line 3 to Chungmuro Station and walk for 15 minutes
Subway Direction to N Seoul Tower:
Take Line 3 to Chungmuro Station exit 2, take bus number 02 and get off at N Seoul Tower
SAMCHEONGDONG
Samcheongdong is one of our favorite areas in Seoul with its quaint and peaceful atmosphere. Filled with hipster cafes, museum, antique shops and art galleries, walking around this area is a pleasant experience with its golden tree-lined street during autumn along with scenic mountain views. You can also find several unique Korean Tea House or Cafe in traditional Korean house, check our Korea Food Guide for more info.
Subway Direction:
Take Line 3 to Anguk Station exit 1.
GYEONGBOKGUNG PALACE
Gyeongbokgung Palace was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty and it is one of the famous tourist spots in Seoul. You can find nice autumn viewing spots around the palace just like this gigantic golden ginkgo tree.
Subway Direction:
Gyeongbokgung station exit 5
HANEUL PARK
One of the 5 World Cup Parks, Haneul Park has the highest elevation with great view of Seoul. It has a unique, different yet beautiful landscape with silver grasses during autumn. A must must visit!! I will write more about it on separate blog post.
Subway Direction:
Take Line 6 to World Cup Stadium exit 1 and walk for around 20 minutes towards the sign saying ‘Haneul Park’.
NAMI ISLAND
Located around 90minutes minutes from Seoul, it is no longer a secret that the famous tourist destination Nami Island is one of the BEST spots in Korea to enjoy autumn foliage.
The schedule for autumn foliage in Nami Island is slightly earlier than Seoul, it would be perfect if we visited Nami Island in last week of October or first week of November 2015. For more info about Nami Island such as how to go there, what to do, what to eat, etc, you can check our Nami Island Travel Guide blogpost anakjajan.com/2016/07/14/korea-nami-island-namiseom-travel-guide/.
Now you can see why it’s sooooo hard for us to move on from our #AnakJajanKOREA autumn trip right? Because autumn in Korea is just way to beautiful, I almost went YOLO and booked airplane tickets to Seoul a few times this year, but my adult self held me back, sigh.. T_T
AnakJajan personally think that it’s the best season to enjoy Korea, if you’re planning to visit South Korea, we highly recommend you to choose autumn season and we’re sure that you’ll love it as much as we did.
I’m going to write the most requested post, Seoul Itinerary guide for the next Korea travel post, perhaps soon (fingers crossed 😀 ), we’ll be sharing list of recommended places to visit and things to do in Korea, also some tips, so you can simply use the guide to plan your itinerary for your upcoming trip to South Korea especially Seoul. Thank you for reading, kamsahamnida. Let’s travel!! 🙂

Huaaaaa rekomendid semua tempat-tempatnya.

Thank you for sharing the best autumn photos ever 💕
Halo Ci.. Kalo boleh tau coat nya beli dimana ya?
aku November ke Seoul, pas autumn, kalo beli coat di daerah ehwa atau myeongdong, kisaran harganya brpa ya?
jd aku bisa siapin mau beli disini az atau later disana.
thank you ^^
Hiii, klo belanja di area Ewha and Hongdae rata2 lebih affordable and lebih murah sih drpd di Jakarta. Kalo aku kebetulan rada picky, jadi aku beli di Zara and Stradivarius di Jakarta pas lagi nemu yg cocok/ suka 🙂
Mungkin bisa siapin 1 ato 2, trus beli lagi disana 😀
Halo mba mau tanya, kira-kira kalo kita mau berangkat tanggal 27 oct sampai 4 november daun2 nya udah sebagus itu ga yah? Takut kecewa aja sampe sana. Soalnya saya liat tulisan mba berangkatnya november pertengahan.
Ya ga ada tanggal pastinya, namanya juga alam, kadang gugur lebih awal, kadang lebih lambat. Sebenarnya hoki-hokian sih. Biasa di website official ada prediksi waktu gugur ketika sudah menjelang musim gugur
