If there is one word to describe Asuka Japanese Dining restaurant in JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, it has gotta be Quality. Serving authentic Japanese cuisine, Asuka has been one of the first choices in Jakarta when it comes to Omakase.
Who doesn’t love Japanese food?! In Jakarta, there are tons of Japanese restaurants but if we are talking about high end Japanese restaurant with impeccable quality, there are only a few and Asuka certainly falls into that category.
Located in JW Marriott Hotel Jakarta, Omakase set menu, sashimi, and sushi are Asuka’s strong points especially their Omakase.
Omakase means you leave it to the chef to plan and prepare the dishes that they’re going to serve based on the available fresh supply. You will get surprised by the dishes served, in a good way.
During AnakJajan’s visit, the price for omakase ranging from IDR 1.8mio++ to IDR 2.5mio++ depends on the ingredients they use.
Here’s closer look at the Omakase set menu, AnakJajan had:
Japanese seaweed salad; mix vegetables and seaweed with homemade sesame sauce. Rich, smooth, fresh, just perfect to regain the appetite.
Ankimo or Angler fish liver with ponzu sauce. To our surprise, it was ennjoyable with buttery and soft texture without any gamey or unpleasant smell. The touch of ponzu sauce gave it a nice acidity kick.
Tara Shirako or Cod fish milt, wow that’s surely goes to one of the most exotic dish AnakJajan have ever had. Surprisingly the exquisite dish was pleasantly palatable with creamy buttery texture and nice torch-grill aroma.
Sashimi game is strong in Asuka! AnakJajan got assorted premium fresh seafood and it was just FLAWLESS. Everything was fresh and you can taste the natural subtle sweetness. For the prawn, after we finished, they will deep fried the prawn head until crunchy, super addictive.
Rosy seabass fish grilled to perfection with Himalayan salt. It was simple dish but executed perfectly beyond our expectation, the simple use seasoning was just clever in order to let the great flavor of the ingredient shine.
A5 Miyazaki Gyu to Truffle
AnakJajan couldn’t be more happier to know that they included A5 Miyazaki beef in the omakase set menu. The beef was very tender buttery with melt-in-the-mouth texture and the use of black truffle just elevated the beef into the next level. Can we get another plate please??
Hokkaido oyster on point! Fresh huge and served with zesty ponzu sauce.
Shake Sushi (Salmon sushi), O Toro Sushi (Fetty tuna belly sushi), Anago Sushi (Salt water eel sushi), Botan Ebi Foei Gras Sushi
These are the true definition of GREAT SUSHI. The rice texture, the sushi rice seasoning, the composition between topping and rice, everything was perfectly executed not to mention the premium lux topping, sooo good!
Negitoro Hand Roll
One of our favorite sushi is temaki or hand roll and luckily the chef made hand roll with chopped tuna belly. The proportion between rice and tuna belly was just nice, not to mention crispy nori.
Shijimi Miso Supo
To clean the palate, the chef served Shijimi soup or miso bean paste clear soup. It might looks very simple, but the taste was impressive, savory and full of umami.
Japanese Layer Cake
Well, there’s always a room for dessert. The classic soft delicate layers of crepes with cream was just nice to end the omakase.
All and all, AnakJajan can easily say that Asuka is ONE OF THE BEST Japanese restaurants in town especially for omakase. Price might be more on the high side, but let us tell you, it is absolutely worth the price considering the premium ingredients and exceptional taste.
