Another new spot for brunch in PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) area, Social Affair Coffee & Bakehouse by Cacaote. Famous for its Martabak Croissant, after attending the opening of Toby’s Estate, AnakJajan and foodie friends decided to have an afternoon break in Social Affair.
It’s located on the first floor of Oasis Shisha, the same row with Hakata Ikkousha Ramen PIK.
Compared to Cacaote, Social Affair has more casual setting with huge showcase of their pastries and cakes in the front area. The bakehouse offers wide variety of homemade pastries both sweet and savory, some of Cacaote’s specialty cakes, eclairs and tarts are also available here.
For more filling option, Social Affair provides great selection of western and Asian fusion dishes for brunch, lunch and dinner.

Mango Cake IDR 45k
Salted Caramel Eclair IDR 40k
One of the signatures from Cacaote, lovely eclair with crunchy crust and delightful bitter sweet flavor from salted caramel, yummy but a tad too sweet for the our likings.

Chocolate Lava Croissant IDR 35k
Bitter sweet chocolate lava inside and glazed beautifully with chocolate. Highly recommended for chocolate lovers, the croissant has a nice flaky texture on the outside while soft inside with rich bitter sweet filling.

Martabak Croissant IDR 35k
Croissant filled with chocolate meises, crushed peanut, topped with grated cheese and drizzled with condensed milk. We had a high expectation since everyone was talking about this menu but unfortunately the croissant was not flaky and way too sweet in overall for our likings, not sure if we just got unlucky with this batch.

Truffled Mushroom Croissant IDR 30k
This one was also under our expectation, the croissant was soft and not flaky, I think it needs to be reheated before serving, on the other side we love the savory truffled mushroom filling though.

Matcha Lava Croissant

Lucky us, the Matcha and Cheesecake Lava Croissant saved our day, both croissant were flaky yet soft delicate inside with bitter sweet flavors from matcha lava or creamy sweet salty flavors from cheese lava, it gave us a reason for going back to Social Affair.
Cheesecake Lava Croissant
Beef Pie
The beef pie was very tasteful to my surprise. The beef filling has a nice depth of flavor with tangy tomato based seasoning. It looks simple but the taste is da bomb! Yumzieeee!
Pork Belly Rice Bowl IDR 85k
caramelized pork, 60 degree egg, sauteed porkchoy, steamed rice

For main dishes, we ordered Pork Belly Rice Bowl and Braised Beef Cheek, both dishes were not bad at all only it wasn’t impressive nor memorable, but gladly the food menu is still temporary as they’re still working on the complete and permanent menu. The pork belly was soft tender and seasoned with Chinese style seasoning but the pork belly cut they used was full of fat, in fact there was 80% ratio of fat.
Braised Beef Cheek IDR 115k
beef cheek braised for 15 hours, potato puree, spinach puree, bordelaise sauce
The braised beef cheek was very tender and enjoyable, my only complain would be the completely bland spinach puree.
Overall, Social Affair serves great variety of pastries with pleasant and unique tasting creations, definitely will be back for more of their croissants. Let’s Jajan!
