THE GARDEN – PIK, Jakarta

Yay to another new spot with strong decor concept, The Garden in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), North Jakarta.

As the name suggests, you can expect to find lush garden ornaments in this restaurant. Compared to the flowery Onni House cafe we recently visited, AnakJajan gotta say that decor game in The Garden is another level!!

Dominated by brick walls, the restaurant is filled with realistic looking artificial plants and flowers, in glimpse it reminds us of the vibes of Sydney’s The Grounds of Alexandria. Each corner has its own charm it makes an instagrammable photo background.

AnakJajan can say that they pay serious attention in the decor concept, even the menu book design and some of the food presentation use garden shovel as accent.

As for the food, they serves Asian, Indonesian, Western fusion kinda dish, you can find various dishes from Babi Guling, Tom Yum, to Steak there. Price wise it’s more on the high side, typical Senopati or South Jakarta’s restaurant price range from IDR 35k to IDR 395k.

G.F.C (Garden Fried Chicken) IDR 55k
The menu describes this is as deep fried chicken wing with tom yum seasoning. For us personally the seasoning is more on the sweet spicy side, we didn’t get the tomyum taste but nevertheless it was well made and fingers licking good.

Bad’Ass Fried Rice IDR 90k
The small portion of fried rice was kinda surprising compared to the generous size of grilled wagyu luckily it was delicious. The fried rice has a nice wok-fry aroma with great spicy taste.

Creamy Chicken Truffle Dumpling IDR 75k
The dumpling has a nice delicate skin filled with minced chicken and shitake mushroom and then cooked in creamy mushroom truffle sauce. Love the smooth creamy taste in the mouth, creamy without being too overpowering 😋

Sunshine Caramelized Pork IDR 100k
This menu is listed on ‘Big Plates’ so we ordered it for sharing, but again surprisingly it came in small portion, it would be more suitable if they put the menu in ‘Small Plates’ list. The crispy fried pork belly with caramel sauce has Thai influence with all the good elements making it very appetizing, savory sweet and sour in each bite.

The Wonder Duck Crispy Kecombrang IDR 220k Whole / IDR 125k Half
Served in big garden shovel, the portion is no joke huge. It consists of deep fried duck, kecombrang rice, urap, and three sambal. Out of all dishes, in terms of taste, this one was the most memorable and impressive. The duck was crispy and nicely seasoned, the rice was very aromatic and savory without being too strong, then the chili sauces were amazing, packed with flavors and spicy. If we’re not mistaken, there were Matah, Green, and Red chili sambal.

Oops I Dropped My Ice Cream IDR 55k
Light coconut ice cream with white chocolate milk crumble, condensed milk anglaise, yuzu curd. Sweet without being too sweet and beautiful presentation, what’s there not to love?

She’s Slice of Heaven IDR 60k
For Mille Crepes, there are 3 options of sauce, Thai Tea, Taro, & Milo. AnakJajan opted for Taro and it was great. The taro sauce was creamy with nice taro aroma in it, not that kind of cheap taro sauce from bubble tea if you know what we mean.

Overall, double thumbs up for the gorgeous decor and concept. As for the food, it didn’t left a deep impression but overall the dishes we had were enjoyable with spot on seasoning.
