Hotpot is always a great idea especially on rainy season. On random afternoon, we saw this new hotpot restaurant when we drove past Pantai Mutiara called Chong Qing Liu Yi Shou Hotpot, so we gathered our friends and give it a try.
These past years, AnakJajan have been hooked with spicy Szechuan Mala hotpot, the spicy taste is just so addictive. If you notice, on our blog we have featured quite a lot of Mala Szechuan dishes: Lac Mei Che Hotpot AYCE, Xiao La Guo Muara Karang, Beauty Hotpot Gajahmada, Lu Wu Shuang PIK, Little Sheep AYCE, Sichuan Palace, Huang Ji Huang PIK.
Located at Pantai Mutiara, Chong Qing Liu Yi Shou Hotpot is situated in spacious home with huge glass window facing the beach. As the name suggests, hotpot is the restaurant’s signature dish. For hotpot broth, there are 3 broth options; Mala, 8 hours bone broth, and Chicken soup. AnakJajan opted for mix soup with Mala & 8 hours bone broth.
The restaurant offers wide variety of ingredients like mushroom, tofu, noodle, meat, innard, seafood, wonton, meatballs, vegetables.
In the middle of restaurant, there’s a sauce & condiment section displaying dozens of dipping sauce and condiments that you can mix according to your taste. AnakJajan asked the staff to help us to make their signature dipping sauce, it was nutty garlicky and goes well with beef.
Iced Apple Pear and Goji Berry IDR 72k
Mushroom Platter IDR 62k // Meatball Platter IDR 72k
Fish Paste IDR 62k
Beef Platter UDR 188k // Wagyu Karubi IDR 102k
Vegetables Platter IDR 78k
Mixed Soup IDR 118k
When it comes to hotpot, aside from fresh ingredients, the soup plays a major part and AnakJajan gotta admit that Liu Yi Shou makes great hotpot soup.
The mala soup was just spot on! It was fiery spicy with bold use of spices and mala peppercorn just the way AnakJajan like.
While for 8 hours bone broth, it was very comforting, smooth rich yet mellow, it felt very nutritious.
the food portion here was surprisingly very small, instead for sharing, AnakJajan gotta say that it’s more suitable for one or maximum two people.
Mala Fried Rice IDR 32k // Liu Yi Shou Mala Noodle IDR 52k
Noodle was okay, too our surprise, the fried rice was the main star of our meal. The rice was cooked nicely with amazing wok-fry aroma, we can taste the savory taste of mala seasoning on each grain of rice. Sooo good you wouldn’t want to share it.
Mapo Tofu IDR 60k
The mapo tofu was also tasty, bold and packed with flavor it makes an amazing companion for rice, but again, small portion.

All and all, the food we had was satisfying in terms of flavor, but not with food portion, it was way too small to for sharing though.
